Used to be the iconic silhouette from all parts of Auckland, NZ for decades! Then a Maori protester chainsawed it halfway through! Of course, it couldn't be saved and now there is just the monument! Cars can drive up to,the top of this old volcano and look over the whole of Auckland from one coast to the other! I walked here and thought it looked as good in winter as in summer!
Three good things:
1.stuck at the airport - what's new - plane delayed but I am fortified,by a brilliant NZ wine, a Sauvignon blanc, Soho, Stella!
2. No 1 SIL (not the one with the stroke) who we took to visit No 3 SIL in the Resthome had a heart event and when I took her pulse, there was none! She did recover and was taken away thankfully by some most efficient ambulance crew! Phew!
3.most people talk English here but the majority of staff and workers in Auckland are not European! I sometimes wonder if I live in NZ!
Sorry about being stuck at the airport--but you always find the silver lining ; ) Wow, that must have been a scary moment to find your SIL had no pulse--glad she recovered. Safe and non-eventful travels the rest of the way home.
That looks really green, a very nice place for a walk. The last two times we were in NZ we were only on the South Island. We must get up to the north at some stage!
I love NZ wine
Glad your SIL recovered
Noticed a lot of non Europeans in Christchurch when we were last there.
What a beautiful shot, Maggiemae. Too bad about the tree. What is up with people. Very glad your SIL is ok, how scary. Also, do not feel alone as the English language is not all that is spoken here and I often wonder the same thing as so much has changed at our stores and on tv, so many accents and so hard to understand.
@gailmmeek She is having her medication adjusted, thank you Gail. Apparently she takes pills to keep her blood pressure low and when the ambulance staff took her blood pressure it was 80/30 which is dangerously low!
