Old graveyard by maggiemae

Old graveyard

This is attached to the little Mt Peel Chapel and goes back several hundred years. As usual it hides untold stories- three stones for three Russians, an unknown man who drowned in the river in 1889, numerous members of the Acland family of all ages, a man who was a partner of the minister for 25 years in the early 1900's! We even found the grave here of Dame Ngaio Marsh, a famous NZ author! A beautiful and quiet place.

Three good things
1. We were the only alive people there.
2. A wide and beautiful view down a lonely river valley here.
3. A nice cup of coffee at the local and only store served by a grumpy lady.
Beautifully seen and processed. Nice, Maggiemae!!

Graveyards have such stories to tell.......i never find them sad places though....this one looks a beautiful resting place. I always marvel at the Maori ones.....they can be quite high up can't they?

Wow! Ngaio Marsh! I've tried to read her - but a tad too racy for me ;) I didn't realise she was NZ!

I love the mood and the processing here Maggiemae. Also it's nice to see where Dame Ngaio is resting, she is one of my favourite mystery authors!

That looks so cool Maggiemae, and I was fascinated how it comes across almost like a miniature scale.

@pamknowler just the way I feel- what happened, so sad, never written down!

I like this in color instead of the usual B&W that people process cemeteries in. it gives it a less depressing feel.

This is really nice- love how both of you (assuming that's you in the yellow and the camera was on a timer) are contemplating on the names- thoughtful, respectful and still imaginative.

Nice shot. It looks quite old. I love how green and kept the grass is.

The processing almost looks like these two have stepped out of their graves to inspect the others headstones..... so good!!
