We were staying in a holiday crib near this manor house. Needless to say, the owners came from Britain and developed the area. They are one of the wealthy landowners in New Zealand. The grounds are very expansive, incorporate a Woodland with exotic lilies, garden walks, vegetable plots and even their own chapel which suffered damage in the recent earthquake. The beautiful main stained glass window completely shattered. It is gradually being repaired.
Three good things:
1. Today being my birthday was filled with joy, laughter and love!
2. The friends we were sharing this house with gave me a card which said, "of all possessions a friend is the most precious".
3. I've worn my knees down climbing steep bush tracks but they are still working!
A BIG thank you to all who commented on my previous pics!
That is gorgeous! I love how the trees frame the lovely house in the middle along with the fence posts leading my eye to the house as well. It seems like a perfect place to spend a birthday. I hope it was happy!
Happy birthday Maggiemae! Glad to hear you got to spend it with good friends and fun activities and in a beautiful place! Your photo here is a beautiful one of a dreamy looking property!
Happy birthday indeed. I think I saw this on TV at the time of quake. Glad yr holiday going well. Been thinking of you and watching the weather on the news 😊
A very Happy Birthday Maggie...how lovely to spend it in this wonderful place...actually you might be home now but still a lovely birthday treat!!!I just love the house, lovely proportions & that veranda all the way round is my dream!!!
I sometimes wonder if the New Zealanders proper ever get fed up with other nationalities coming over & buying up farms & houses like this. Jo sent me a photo of Max at nursery yesterday & there were 7 mums & kids there & out of those 7 mums only two were from NZ!
Nice to have you back, we missed you!!
happy birthday, young lady (well, my greeting is late, but still near the five-day parameter of celebration :-D). looks like you're enjoying yourselves. with a nice photo to account for it.
What a beautiful house! It looks such s lovely place! Happy belated birthday! It sounds like you are in great company and isn't that the most important thing in life - friends and family- treasure them all!
This looks like a gorgeous home and I like how you have framed the shot through the trees.
Lovely shot. The composition is beautiful. Looks like such a fantastic spot.
