Writing up my diary out in the sun and testing all different settings as the light and shade had so much contrast. I have kept a daily diary for 20 years now. Each book has five years in the page so its only a little to write for the day. Great to look back on and also to find out what happened and when.
Three good things;
1. Mostly good things in this diary but it does contain some of my inner feelings.
2. In all of the 100s of postings from my 365 friends, I have never found one swear word! I think thats positive and admirable!
3. Each day is a new day and a new picture idea!
One journal for all the happenings which will be available for my kids when I'm gone, and another that my daughter, Heidi, will have instructions to BURN WHEN I'M GONE!!!!!!
Looks like a lovely day to be outside. Love the light and processing. Good for you for being such a diligent writer. Glad I haven't sworn in your 365. I do sometimes. Not super bad words, though.
Gosh that's commitment! I kept one when I was about 15/16 years old, i'm too embarrassed to look at it now, I cringe at thought of what i might have put in it!
I admire your diligence, stood you in good stead for a project like this
I have discovered a couple of swearers, I find it authentic :) @yonnie I bet she doesn't. I have a book like that I should burn it soon lol
It looks like a lovely day to be sitting on the veranda and writing.
My grandmother did the same for probably longer thanyou did. Years after her death I got to see a copy of the last etry in her diary. My grandfather made it and it simply said his beautiful wife died on this day. She was near 80 years old
maggie, the light and shade does cause big contrast problems, but you have handled them well here. 5 YEARS per page ...WOW..you will need tiny writing and that sounds like my kind of diary !
Looks a lovely place to sit and write you diary and contemplate your previous entries!
I have over sixty years worth of diaries written by my mother in my attic, she only stopped writing them last year when dementia set in. I can't bring myself to read them, or destroy them, maybe in the future but not yet.
Oh you are doing what I love doing!!! Sitting in a nice sunny warm spot and reading (or in your case writing). Love the comp. and lighting. How wonderful that you have kept up with this tradition...what a treasure. Thank you for the positive supportive comments on your visits!
It used to be one of my daily habits - until I left my diary in a hotel room and had to backtrack hundreds of miles to reclaim it. I've not written another word since then - I was too horrified to think of all the staff who may have read it! (This happened about 6 or 7 years ago).
Looks like a lovely place to write! You would think that since I like to write I would also keep a journal but I hate writing them!! 365 is the closest I've gotten to journaling!
@maggiemae I think what happens to me is that I get into a rut of just writing about what happened and not what I think about it. But I have kept journals of all the significant trips I've taken at least.
my doctor wanted me to keep a diary - of everything i eat everyday - as a way for me to lose weight and bring down my cholesterol. that wasn't a good idea. i ended up lying, not jotting in the two big bars of chocolate each day. or the big piece of pie or cake or the big tuna melt sandwich i'd eat as snack. the veranda looks nice and the archway has a luscious foliage!
@summerfield Talk about making you feel guilty! Writing as well as eating - that is a double guilt trip! Just chuck away the guilt but not the chocolate!
How lovely to sit outside and write. My ritual is my gratitude journal before I go to sleep every night. On to my 3rd year. It has changed my thinking right around (bit like 365) and I see the world anew. Would be very pleased if I can do 20 years! That's some commitment. Do you share your writings?
Your experiments ended up with a beautiful high key image. You look very relaxed if you have been trying various settings.... All that getting up and down to sort the camera out!
I love it, this is such a wonderful B&W shot. How fun to look back at your diary and to check out various settings on your camera. I have yet to do that.
wonderful. I have tried so many times to write in a diary but it never lasts long. I like to take pictures on a daily basis though. Love the way you share in here with your 3 ideas.
