Exploring a back room in the historic part of Oamaru, we discovered several carriages, many old boats and some odd bicycles for two! There was even one of those stiff woollen rugs on the seat waiting for the ladies to step in and use!
Three good things:
1. I would love to see this on the road with a horse.
2. Managed to refuse a fresh fruit icecream at the shop on the beachfront - the only shop.
3. It was like summer here today - sat outside to watch the landscape dry out!
What a great find, Maggiemae. I can't imagine it being a very comfortable ride ; ) (See, there is DEFINITELY a reason I wasn't born before comfortable cars with air conditioning. I would have been a complaining pioneer.
that's a beauty, needs a bit of work. and a horse to carry you around in your elegant gown, maggiemae. that's the picture that came to mind when i saw this.
@summerfield Probably more likely needs an elephant to pull my weight, Vikki! ... and knowing me, I would trip on that elegant silk gown and land flat on my face in the mud!
Such elegance & I would think of all the places in NZ your town is the place it would be most appreciated......all the historic occasions you celebrate in Oamaru.
Delightful shot, lovely light. Wish I could say the same about resisting - I've just sat and eaten a pile of chocolate mini eggs! I'm still sorting through my NZ ohotos - I need something to give me some ooomph!
Perhaps the memory of all the eggs makes it worthwhile? Find the nz photo that has the most interesting story - as good as the picture itself, I think!
