Testing my new camera's fast shutter speed with all the bikers passing outside my hotel in Rapid City. The place is full of them but in Sturgis to the north west, they become like wasps nests! Over the road you can see one of the bronze Presidents. This one is Jimmy Carter.
On looking at this photo I noticed that the bride in the window seemed to have lost her dress! So I went back to have a look and found that the top was a mesh affair with sparkles. Don't think this chick would be seen dead in a dress like this!
Three good things;
1. I'm getting better.
2. Almost met a 365 @leananiemand who had posted a Mt Rushmore photo two days ago! By the time my message got to her - she was way down the road. Thanks to Katy @grammyn for making the connection.
3. John met and had a photo taken with a famous film star but didn't know who he was - Mark Wahlberg - neither do I!
I was just in Rapid City and admitting the presidents on every corner. y husband grew up just across the state line in Newcastle Wyoming and we were visiting the family and spent a couple days in the Black Hills. I enjoyed it a lot more this time, the last couple trips to Rapid were because my Father-in-law was in the hospital for a motorcycle wreck, then my Mother-in-law was in there, now both are doing well.
Super shot - you have captured the action in Rapid City - how strange to wander around this town and bump into all these presidents. I can't help thinking about bumping into Rob Muldoon cast in brass on the corner of High Street, Motueka - what a nightmare!
Well Jimmy looks like he could do with a good meal....why has he got his coat over his arm....what's it something he was known for...I don't remember seeing him do that!
Your brides bodice does look like it's slipped down over her waist...strange!
You are up & about , great stuff...sound more like yourself too! Good shutter work.....I don't know the famous chap either!
@happypat They all have such natural poses, Pat. Might do a photo of another president watching the bikes go past! I'm up but fragile - can't go anywhere without feeling weird. A Presidents Crawl might be in order!
This is so clear and colourful. The biker is terrific. Do you mean Rapid City just below the Canadian border? I've been to Rapid City - we used to live in Regina and we visited from there.
Fabulous shot with so much to see! Good for John even if he doesn't know who Wahlberg is Glad you are feeling better and thanks for the shout out about Leana!
@skstein there are Presidents on just about every corner here in Rapid City, Sandy - bronze statues - but they do make you want to learn more about all of them!
What a fun shot! So much to see. Great capture Maggie! So are you guys renting a Harley and going to Sturgis??? Might be once in a life time chance. I have never been. Charles has a few times. I think I would like to do it at least once!
Nice shot, Maggiemae. Love that bronze statue in the background. I never knew they did anything like that there. Very cool. ... OMG - You guys met Mark Wahlberg??? How cool!!! He's famous here. He's been in tons of films. One of my favorite actors! Jealous of John!!
What a great action shot, Maggiemae. Very cool shot of Jimmy Carter in the background. How cool that John met Mark Wahlberg. He has done a lot of movies. So glad you are feeling better. 2 days on vacation is too long to be in bed. Take care.
1) I know who Jimmy Carter is!
2) I don't know who Mark Wahlberg is either.
3) I don't think this biker chick would be caught dead with either of them as well as wear that dress!
Good shot- sure hope that cold packs up and heads out soon!
