Internet is frightfully slow here and cops out all the time. This is a huge square with the canal running through it, wonderful centuries old buildings and churches around and restaurants on the street.
Three good things:
1. Great train trip to Narbonne from Bordeaux - I sat by the window and jumped out of my skin every time another train whacked past beside me. A gorgeous black guy with long eyelashes thought I was very funny.
2. The bread in France is outstanding for texture and flavour.
3. Catching a picture of the ancient city of Carcassone from the train! (see second album)
We travelled on the motorail a number of years ago (you put your car on the train) and then you go into a carraige / sleeper for the journey from calias to narbonne. I remember seeing the sun rise about 6am over carcassone, stunning it was. Narbonne was a great city , we had lunch in the square on the journey home. We stayed in a beautiful gite near the Spanish border for a week and then s week in Pezanas (a woderful town). Happy memories from 1998 and 1999 evoked by your lovelly shot maggie
Oh I want to go to France!! It all looks so beautiful & sounds so civilised....warm bread & the wine too......all these lovely castles, no wonder everyone loves going to France. Funny I have not seen many French 365ers on this site! They would be very pleased with your photos!
I'm so enjoying your photos. This one is striking for the combination of lighting. I saw the ancient city one last night on my iPad and loved it. Heading over to comment now.
@happypat I think thats funny too - no french 365'ers! might browse for 'france' and see what I get. It is certainly very beautiful and full of history - but like the UK too.
Just catching up and if only I had known. We live between Carcassonne and Narbonne ( or Carcassonna and Narbonna as they say round here!) . Glad you liked it anyway :-)
@maggiemae hey Maggie May, I'm not french but do live here- a stones throw from this shot, lovely reflections to be found night and day. Have been asp beset for a while but was following Lionel who is French and lives in France and also Nerfertiti, who is French but lives on the Costa Brava in Spain although she hasn't posted in a while. There are a few expats too. ;-)
