Now in Singapore, this is the pool up high on the roof. A bit high key but you can see a dot in the sky which is a plane coming in to land. (no, you can't - its a spot on my screen, sorry! )
My plan is to catch a plane (from my camera) with its tail focused to see the airline's icon and in the dark. Haven't got the right settings yet - do I pan?
Three Good Things:
1. Being squashed in a seat with strangers for 13 hours teaches one tolerance.
2. Being spilt red wine on by your neighbour, teaches you to contain bad language!
3. Being wined and dined and not having to pay teaches you gratitude.
How cool! A rooftop pool! You are really getting around the globe! This is a great shot. Getting planes are really tricky because they are fast, but I know you can do it!
Wow, you're certainly getting lots of great shots on this trip. Looking forward to seeing the shot of the plane. And I do like your three good things for the day.
ooh, where are you staying in Singapore Maggiemae? Sentosa? We lived there for seven years and both my children were born there. Going back for another visit next year I hope. I love the place - but mainly the non-touristy bits and our lovely friends.
I can't keep up with you Maggie! The last time I looked you were in Manchester!! This is gorgeous, looks so inviting! (PS whats the secret to packing for life on the road? We are off on a 19 day trip down the West coast of America, not staying any longer than 3 days in any one place..... planning to travel light!!)
I can imagine how warm & sultry it is....bet you were glad of a dip in that pool after your flight! I love Singapore too, so clean & friendly but the clothes are so small.......we always stay at Merchant Court on Clarks Quay bit touristy but is handy for stuff. Have a great time & keep the photos coming....waiting for that great plane shot...they will be slower if they are coming in to land hopefully!
Oh yes that is the one that is right by the airport isn't it. You should get a bum boat across to Pulau Ubin - it's another world and great seafood restaurants and cycling.
@jackie8 As usual I took far too much! A couple of light blouses and a light skirt for hot weather, warmish jersey but thin and another to put underneath if it gets cold. Couple pairs of trousers and thats it. Three days sounds perfect for getting to know places!
@jantan Just been looking at the map and it look like just a walk away! We are one hour away from the City Centre and don't want to waste a moment. Been here before so would like to see something different.
you can pan, set the camera to the "sport" feature. if there is a multiple shot setting, you can also use that. look at me dispensing photography advice. tee-hee, but i am speaking from experience. singapore was the first country i've been to outside of the philippines. i love that place! enjoy your travels. what's that i read about john's damaged leg? did he have an accident while you were travelling? i can't keep up with my friends' postings.
@summerfield I tried panning but with zoom right out its very difficult to keep the focus. Used multiple shot but no focus. I think I should have upped the ISO. John pulled a leg muscle in the middle of a cramp spasm but its getting better. Thanks, Vikki!
@maggiemae I know!! It's wicked hard. I have a few plane shots in my albums. A couple last year and one or two the year before. They are hard to zoom and focus on because by the time you get zoomed in and get ready to focus, they are out of the frame already. It takes a lot of patience!
This is a great shot. I love infinity pools as they always give a nice view and look great. Good luck with the plane shot. I am still getting used to my settings as well on my new camera. It takes time and trial and error. I do always love your three good things. You have a wonderful sense of humor and great patience from what you wrote above.
