Am I that interesting? by maggiemae

Am I that interesting?

On my bike ride, this time for 20km, I passed a field of young steers. As I rode past they started to race me down the field. I stopped, they stopped, they stared, I stared back! Took their photo and hopped on my bike. Once again they started to race me down the field! I like all the different colours!

Three good things;
1. When I turned into the strong headwind, I just used my throttle and cruised ahead without peddling and effort!
2. Important people coming to lunch tomorrow.
3. A good film on TV about NZ's very funny comedian, Billy T James, a Maori who died some years ago. Facts we never knew.
Very interesting processing. They keep you amused for the 20 km ride.

Fantastic capture with all the cattle looking at you. Must have been fun to their interaction with you on the bike.

Great shot and amazing that the entire herd is looking at your camera.

@beryl @happypat A bit difficult to organise, that photo! Need to have a photographer standing on the side of the road! Any offers?

Love this country scene

When I was a kid I used to go to my great uncles' dairy and feel so powerfully magical because when I sang the cows came running like this to watch.
December 15th, 2014
So fun! Love the sharpness.
December 15th, 2014
Lovely shot and processing. What a nice variety of color in the colors of the cattle.
December 15th, 2014
looks a lot like mine from a few weeks ago. i think usually they are waiting for you to pitch them some hay.
December 15th, 2014
@chard Found that one! I don't shovel hay or anything around nowadays, Richard!
December 15th, 2014
@pandorasecho Those cows must have grown up happy!
December 15th, 2014
@grammyn I could hardly walk in the door when I got back, Katy! Don't know how Leana does it!
December 15th, 2014
@maggiemae I am still impressed with your prowess.
December 15th, 2014
I can just see this whole scene in my mind and it's making me smile! Fun story- funnier shot!

Wow, how amazing to have them all looking at you like that. Was it scary to have them racing you down, or were you confident you could outrace them--and that the fence wold hold them back? I wonder if it had something to do with the color red? You know, like the red cape the matador uses in the ring?
December 15th, 2014
@skstein Not scary, Sandy - cattle are very curious beasts and being totally bored with mooching around in an uninteresting field, are perked up by a stray cyclist peddling down the road by them. They just love racing you and the sound of pounding hoofs is quite funny!

lovely ruminant shot... they always have such interesting expressions :)
December 15th, 2014
Awesome shot

Cattle are funny creatures. Lived on a farm when I was a child and this brings back many memories. Nice shot, like the light and colors.
December 15th, 2014
Ha! Love it.
December 15th, 2014
Love it!!! Don't you wonder what goes through their minds? Curiosity I suppose. FAV and fun!
December 15th, 2014
Love the way every cow is focused on you 😊
December 15th, 2014
@andreajoy I do tend to talk to cattle when I'm out biking so they enjoy a good conversation!
December 15th, 2014
How funny! I can just imagine them racing you down the road!
December 15th, 2014
They are always so curious. I love their expressions it makes me wonder what they are thinking. Perhaps wishing they had wheels instead of legs!!
great capture and processing.
December 15th, 2014
They are nosy creatures. This is a neat shot
December 15th, 2014
These are such curious and fun-loving animals ... if they were human they would probably be wolf-whistling at the sight of you and Ruby.
December 15th, 2014
wonder if the bike being red played a part in the chase?
December 15th, 2014
I love this!
December 15th, 2014
They are beautiful animals, and the light on them is lovely.
December 15th, 2014
Neat shot and funny story! When I was a child my father would stand by the fence and moo at the cows and they would always come over to see him. The never chased him down the road though!
December 16th, 2014
Sounds like a bit of a game. Cows stare but sheep run away.
December 16th, 2014
NIce shot of a great looking paddock of steers.
December 16th, 2014
Brilliant capture and processing Maggie...Fav

Bev
Great shot, Maggie. Too funny that they raced you. They must like your bike. Fav
December 16th, 2014
Love the curious look you're getting. My sister @kelly2 posted a picture on 12th Decemberto which you posed a question. She and I answered it, Oren's a fuller answer than mine!
December 16th, 2014
@ceilidh Fascinating architecture all right!
December 16th, 2014
This is an amazing shot, Maggiemae. I love all the detail you captured of all the cattle in this photo. It is fun when they race you. I had a donkey do that too. Love the animals and wonder what they are thinking. Maybe just curious. FAV
