The sun overpowers the fog by maggiemae

The sun overpowers the fog

An early photo when fog was about in the valley but there were lovely silver streaks on the sea beyond with the sun breaking through. The foreground was getting the sun too as well as the electricity lines giving them graceful curves. I just can't work out what the thin white line is at the bottom of the picture.

I also experimented sending this photo to my laptop through 'Airdrop'. Sending by email eliminates the exif settings. It worked!

Three good things;
1. So many friends out there, so many uplifting comments!
2. An email from the library saying the book I had ordered was ready for pick-up. Pat of @happypat had recommended it - The Paying Guests.
3.Glad we live in the south. A Category 4 cyclone is bearing down on NZ and will affect the north east of the country.
Beautiful tones and shot Maggie...

Love the pov and the tangle of garsen and wires that underpins this soft morning view. Fav.
March 12th, 2015

I love this shot! So many interesting layers.
March 12th, 2015
i think the thin white line at the bottom is a wire that's glistening in the light of the sun. i am astounded by the sharpness of the images in this photo i am considering buying this camera and do away with the heavy dslr! great shot!
March 12th, 2015
@summerfield You might be right - this wire may not be evident at other times. And I think this camera is just wonderful - a steady hand or tripod and you get the best pictures!
March 12th, 2015
Very interesting shot. I like it

such an interesting shot ... I'm glad the sun overpowers the fog!
March 12th, 2015
@lynnz must be something to do with warming and so creating currents to move the fog away, Lynn!

I am amazed at the complex images in this photo maggiemae......so many different layers on top of each other..."almost as if you have completely different photos one on top of each other! Love it & a big fave! I read about the cyclone, hope it fizzles out over the sea before it hits NZ! Hope younenjoy The Paying Guests!

What glorious light and colour. I love it - fav!
March 12th, 2015
That is very sharp and beautiful..... I can't figure out that horizontal line in the foreground, either.... it should be blurry like the leaves if it was on that plane....hope it's not in your camera or lens!
March 12th, 2015
Lovely shot
March 12th, 2015
@panthora Thanks Osia - I just took another photo to check and no problems!
March 12th, 2015
What an amazing combination.
March 12th, 2015
@happypat That's what my zoom can do, Pat! I steadied it against a pole but only one of about 6 came out clearly! Many thanks for your fav!
March 12th, 2015

@chard From the deck just outside the lounge, Richard!
March 13th, 2015
Great shot
March 13th, 2015
Very pretty- perhaps it is the top of a fence? But it could also be another wire.
March 13th, 2015
@olivetreeann I've looked and looked and come to the conclusion its a jet spider!
March 13th, 2015
Love, love the light!
March 13th, 2015
Lovely contrasts, Maggie. I agree it looks magical.
March 13th, 2015
@skstein the zoom is so good in this camera, Sandy, I never know what it will create!
March 13th, 2015
an instant fav! I LOVE the perspective, the colors, the sharpness, the softness, the lines....great composition and very original.
You know sometimes I am bored because of the same type of photos I see/I do everywhere.... and suddenly this ! Very nice surprise, it really pops out !
March 13th, 2015
@cocobella Thank you Corinne - I feel the same way but I don't want to discourage those who have put their 'all' into a photo. My zoom creates its own type of perspective!
March 13th, 2015
Full of interest Maggie. A great capture. I have Airdrop but I've never looked at it to see what it does. Do you use it a lot?
March 13th, 2015
@thistle We use it to transfer big files from one computer to another. Emailing is not the same. It works well, Joyce!
March 13th, 2015
Thanks Maggie I'll have an explore later.
March 13th, 2015

March 13th, 2015
@kelly2 I really wanted to get the silver strips in the sea out there but all the foreground seemed to be so up front too! Thanks Irene for you comments!
March 13th, 2015
I'm glad to see it's winning the battle
March 13th, 2015
Fav! What an intriguing photo. This really caught my eye. Love how the colors merge into the foggy background. Glad you aren't affected by the cyclone!
March 13th, 2015
Lots going on here - terrific dof and I like the contrasts between the front and back, almost like two different shots although I know there are not.
March 13th, 2015
