Leafbird by maggiemae

Leafbird

The leaf has landed - like the Eagle! To me it appeared like a bird in a landscape - could have been a heron with that long beak!

Five minutes later and it had been turned over by the wind and was no longer a heron! Just a dead magnolia leaf on its back!

Three good things:
1 “Spring Forward” means clocks go on 1 hour - I can go to bed reasonably early and not feel guilty! Daylight Saving.
2. Slippers which do not have a huge hole in them when you go outside to get a photograph!
3. Love seeing photos from, 1. the Maine area in USA and, 2, Cambridge in the UK. And, Pat, @happypat- also in Blackpool!
Quite amazing Maggiemae. It certainly does look like a bird. Lovely capture.

Spring forward, ah thank you now I know you are twelve hours ahead until we put our clocks forward at the end of October, they forget to tell me.

This is a magical scene. Reminds me of sunlight filtering down through an underground spring. Fav

You have a very creative imagination! It definitely looks like a bird in this image! Terrific light!
September 27th, 2015
Delightful image. Love the rays of light on the grass, the bright colored flowers, and the leaf bird. It reminds me of origami. Your narrative is very poetic too. You're a good writer as well as photographer.

It's a bird, it's a bird. caught my eye right away. love the sunlight on the grass and the rich colors of the flowers.

@bruni You say that, Bruni - like "Its a plane, its a plane" - from that old tv series!
September 27th, 2015
@chard Sting ray, Richard? or Portray? Maybe even lingeray?
September 27th, 2015
I thought you bought a bird sculpture from the craft market.
September 27th, 2015
@maggiemae sting but linge would be ok.
September 27th, 2015
@chard ah - I see what you see - the heron's beak is the sting!
September 27th, 2015
I like this shot Maggie, nice light.
September 27th, 2015
A neat shot - great lighting and a nice edge from the garden.
September 27th, 2015
Great shot! So much to see; lovely flowers, great shadows, sun lines, green grass and a leaf that could almost pass for a bird
September 27th, 2015
Neat composition, light, shadows
September 27th, 2015
A bird indeed. A bit low flying maybee.
September 27th, 2015
@mona65 Yes, Mona, and he can't be after a fish in this territory!

Hi hi !! A bird indeed !!
September 27th, 2015
So pretty! And love the sunrays
September 27th, 2015
Such a pretty chance well taken.
September 27th, 2015
It does look like a bird landing, as long as you didn't try to feed it with crumbs.
September 27th, 2015
wow -- this is SO well spotted and captured.
September 27th, 2015
Clever spot and capture. Your pretty flowers in the foreground must have attracted it to the ground.
September 27th, 2015
Good capture of this leaf bird. Clever of you to spot it before it became another leaf
September 27th, 2015
@kelly2 I quite like Richards take on it - a sting ray! But a bird looks better than a sting ray on a back lawn!
September 27th, 2015
@maggiemae my first impression was Concorde. We all see differently
September 27th, 2015
U hav the best imagination, seeing it as a heron. It also looks to me like it could have been a picture of underwater. The stuff in the Far bottom left hand corner is like the floor of the sea. Really interesting and cool.
September 28th, 2015
So creative - all a part of nature, right. :)
September 28th, 2015
@creativeaddict You have the right idea, Laur! I put a 'water' texture on to the picture.
September 28th, 2015
@kelly2 I've forgotten what the Concord looked like now!
September 28th, 2015
Well spotted. It does look like a bird.
September 28th, 2015
Love your pov, light and shadow in this, and I do see the birdlikeness of that leaf.
September 29th, 2015
