This is a portrait of my stepdaughter, Joy, who is turning 60 in a few weeks. I cropped it from another I had taken and did some tweaking including changing the background which was ugly and not flattering. Its going to be used in a life book that another daughter is working on. A cover photo so it had to be good.
Three good things:
1 The work on this photo took care of a number of hours in this day which I’m glad I had free.
2. She’s having a party and we have to dress up in ’60’s clothing! I managed to find a dress on Trademe as I really don’t have any left over from 50 years ago!
3. Went to a ukelele jam at night as there were a couple from Texas visiting Oamaru who wanted to join in.
Hooray you went to a ukelele evening, so glad you might feel more like going now you've broken the ice so to speak!
Your stepdaughter has a lovely face & this is a lovely casual warm photo of her. Trade Me is the answer to many a problem!
@happypat Well, its somewhat good, but I feel that we as a group never get any better as we have no musical director. You know how you should practice something till you get it right - well we never do that! However it must be good for me!
A lovely and friendly portrait -- you did a good job at editing the background . I love her direct gaze at you ! -- it will make a great book cover photo !
@sdutoit My gosh - now I've done it! I'lll have to put it on! Its more Edwardian than -60s which had waisted and full skirts (not me) - so I'll have to do the Charleston!
I think you've done such a nice job on this photo- she looks warm, casual and relaxed. I hope she likes her book. I don't have any clothes left from the 60's either. Of course I was in grade school then so I would definitely have problems fitting into them anyhow!

Just lovely.
