Another quick post - 10% on my computer but will be better tomorrow. We will settle in another beautiful spot but this time with power.
The Ponds of Mandeville are an enigma - we have to find out. It was hot today and so wonderful to have all windows open in the caravan. This is an Australian Coot - he was determined to frighten off a pukeko!
Three good things;
1. We had limited grocery items but just down the road was a cafe called ‘The Moth’. On its website -open till 8pm. We walked down the road for 1 &1/2km only to find out it was closed.
2. Saw a lady out on her patio with a glass of wine and I yelled, Cheers! Then walked in a crippled way as it was so hot and I just wanted to be silly!
3. This lady drove back to our campsite and presented us with - 1 bottle of delicious NZ wine, a pack of sausages and 4 huge eggs! We couldn’t believe it! After a wonderful conversation of over an hour and John gave her a signed copy of the Burt Munro Book, she hopefully thought her generosity had paid off! She knew the cafe was closed and felt so sorry for us padding along the hot road!
Great rippled wake as the bird speeds along on it quest. Didn't know this bird. What a lovely lady to be so generous to you. I bet those sausages and eggs went well with the wine! An interesting name for the closed restaurant - was it too early for moths to be about?
Cool bird- the reflection makes it look like he's got two heads... and you know two heads are better than one. #3 Great story!! Like something out of your mum's book!
Such a wonderful photo, Maggiemae. Looks so relaxing. What a nice lady to bring you an entire meal after saying hi to her and she knew you had headed for a meal. People are amazing.
@maggiemae It was lucky she had extra food and was so nice too. I would do the same thing if I noticed this happen and had the food to share. You were so lucky. There are a lot of nice people out there today and great to hear a story like this from you.
