Waiting for the big one.. by maggiemae

Waiting for the big one..

St Clair in Dunedin in the South Island of NZ is well known for a good surfing spot. The waves were rolling in and I played with the contrast in post processing to accentuate the colour of the rolling curve.

Here for an failed investment update - hopefully not all bad. (I played with 365 while pretending to listen!)

Three good things:
1. Eating mussels and clams in a lemon and wine broth while looking out on the sea here!
2. Stopped in at a caravan park where my dear sister (now departed) has a caravan - old and tired and we don’t know what to do with it (1977!)
3.More mobile data accumulated - these 'pins' are to be hunted down from a map and you get the data downloaded on to your site. Means trekking over parks and cricket grounds, public gardens and universities!
It is interesting and very unusual for me! Maggiemae I am happy that you shared with me your day!

Brilliant processing Maggiemae. Summer in a picture. I love how the surfers in the foreground are watching the one about to hit that far wave and how the colours pop. Fav.

Love those colours and waves, it looks really great!

This is beautiful processing! I like the tones, and the way the surfers "pop" with such vibrant color.

I do hope that your investment turns out all right.

@dsp2 We have been waiting for 8 years now, Dinah - had given up but there is a very slight glimmer of hope that we might get something back!

Great scene and edit giving a surreal result

Great water colour!

The waves are looking very arty and demand a hard look to make sense. This, in a good way. Fascinating take on the surf scene. As for the day, all sounds very mysterious. Hope you don't loose out in a troubling way.

@helenhall When the Finance Company folded, Helen - 8 years ago we thought we had lost the whole caboodle! But it seems there is a fight going on and we might recover some. We were resigned to the loss.
January 17th, 2017
Oh I see. Well I do wish you well with that.
January 17th, 2017
A spectacular image captured very well. Love the choice of processing

Fabulous what you did with the water - such an enhancement.
January 18th, 2017
Wow, great capture...love the colors and waves. Fav
January 18th, 2017
@lesip Yes, I was lucky with that one, Leslie - a few seconds later he was engulfed!
January 18th, 2017
The big one is coming with the weather bomb.
January 18th, 2017
@yaorenliu But this beach faces east, Yao! The weather is coming from the west! Batten down hatches!
January 18th, 2017
Great capture. I can see their anticipation for that big wave moving closer to them.
January 18th, 2017
Excellent high key effect. Love it.

Always fun to play with the adjustments when it comes to crashing surf. Sadly it hardly seems worth dawning the wetsuits for these dudes.
January 18th, 2017
Great timing of the shot.
January 18th, 2017
@stray_shooter But Ron, the temperature here at this time (mid summer) was only 13degC and the sea temp might be as low as 13degC (58F) as well!
January 18th, 2017
@maggiemae Yikes! Seems like a cool summer.
January 18th, 2017
Love a nice ocean shot, you have also caught the waves nicely
January 18th, 2017
VML the rollers. One of the things I miss the most is the sea, living within its sound and smell, walking and swimming in it.
January 18th, 2017
Great shot and I love your processing. Fav
