It Snowed! by maggiemae

It Snowed!

Magic for us but normal for those who live in Canada. This is a ski resort and it was very welcome for the trails.
A sick hubby and too cold to go outside meant a day inside. Very welcome for us to rest up!
Three good things:
1. Warm inside - too warm - had to turn the fire and the heating off!
2. Our sweet granddaughter refused to say thank you for her presents! I took a back step.
3. Watched the movie 'Goodbye Mr Chips" - the 1939 version!
Lovely captured, great 3 good things!!!

Important to rest, hopeful your granddaughter learns her manners before she’s grown.

@louannwarren She is stubborn - just like her father was, Lou Ann!

A great day to be tucked up inside. Hopefully you’ll both be up and about after a good rest. This is a lovely snow scene.

Great wintry night shot...I'm glad you took a day off to rest.

Nice atmospheric capture, it does look a good day to be staying in!!

Make the most of the rest at this wintery time - hope John recovers soon !

Bep
Beautiful wintry atmosphere.
Your #3 brought me back to my high school days. The movie "Goodbye Mr Chips" is based on a novel by James Hilton, as you may know. I read that book with lots of pleasure.

I'm afraid it's seems to be parr for the course these days maggie, I could have a little grumble about that in certain quarters! We used to have to sit down & write proper letters, these days all they need to do is email! Glad you're staying in, sometimes one needs a really good reason not to keep going!
January 24th, 2018
@happypat Exactly - write thank you letters! As much as we disliked doing it - it was manners! I think little Miss Madam has her parents under full control!
January 24th, 2018
@gijsje It won a lot of awards too, Bep! Glad I saw it!

@beryl He's on the way thanks Beryl - climbed out of bed and in the lounge! So good!

@craftymeg That was yesterday, Margaret! Today we have blue skies and minus temperatures that hurt your lungs!

Nice snow shot. Mr. Chips was a great movie!!

Sounds like indoor time. Nice capture of the snow. Hope your hubby is better soon.

What a lovely shot, looking at this it has cooled me down from the heat here in Oz at the moment.
Kids don't seem to have manners these days do they. Our eldest grandson has the 'entitled' approach to life. He lives over 1000 km from where we live, but it would be nice if he could let us know if presents have arrived. We don't want him to gush and thank us specifically, but to just acknowledge that presents have arrived would be good manners in my opinion. We always have to ask if gifts have got there and it sounds as though we want him to think we are marvellous, but it isn't the case. My daughter hasn't taught him good manners at all. Bad manners will come back to bite him on the bum one day I feel. Here endeth my whinge for the day.

All the discussion on manners, and gifts arriving seems very familiar. I'm glad you enjoy the snow, and hope that you are both out and about again soon.
January 24th, 2018
@onewing Its difficult when its really the parents fault and they are grown people. I have to struggle with saying how I really feel - just can't! I appreciate your whinge!

beautiful view that gives support to staying inside for the day
!
January 25th, 2018
Yep. A good day to stay inside.
January 25th, 2018
Great choice. That image wouldn't entice me out either.
January 25th, 2018
It is a strange thing, isn't it? I am a thank you letter writer but I am finding almost no-one else is these days. It's so odd when carefully chosen gifts are met with silence. I shall maintain my letter writing to the last! Maybe someone else will be inspired to send a message too.
Looks a lovely place to be staying. Hope you get to enjoy it and your hubby feels better very soon.
January 25th, 2018
Hope your hubby is feeling better and you're managing to stay warm and dry in this cold snowy weather.

@casablanca
I belong to letter the letter writing generation too. Although fewer now, I tend to email and/or FaceTime. Maintaining meaningful contact is my objective...
January 25th, 2018
Still some way from home... please get enough rest to enjoy the rest of this momentous tour.
January 25th, 2018
Awesome shot
January 25th, 2018
@s4sayer We are both working on it, Margo! Thanks for your concern!
January 25th, 2018
@casablanca Well granddaughter is only two and there is still plenty of time for it to happen. Both parents try to get her to say thank you and please but it doesn't always happen! To those oldies that don't have email or computer- I always send a card for thanks!
January 25th, 2018
it's just a little snow and i hope you are still enjoying yourselves. will you be coming to Toronto so i can at least say hi to you guys?
January 25th, 2018
@summerfield Its a lot of snow for me, Vikki - we are leaving Canada tomorrow afternoon by plane from the airport. Currently in Barrie and will be going by shuttle to the airport. What about saving up for a NZ visit?
January 25th, 2018
@maggiemae - NZ is definitely in the cards, after retirement though. I'll be sure to look you up! :-)
January 25th, 2018
Goodness but that sky looks ominous!
It's a shame that the art of writing thank you letters has died out (even an e-mail would do because that is what *is* customary now). What is an even greater pity is that 'please' and 'thank you' seem to be falling out of use generally and I'm sorry to say (from experience and bearing in mind I'm 64) too many members of the older generation are not setting a good example.

I hope your husband is soon well then you'll be able to get out and enjoy the scenery. Please and thank you! not enough of it from all generations. Good shot.
January 26th, 2018
That looks quite cold and chilly! Hope your hubby is feeling better. You two are certainly the travelers!
