Acacia Cottage by maggiemae

Acacia Cottage

One of New Zealand's original homesteads, Acacia Cottage is a rare survivor from early colonial Auckland and an important symbol of the city's pioneering roots. It was built for John Logan Campbell, an early mayor and "father of Auckland".
It now stands in One Tree Hill (not) Park. The one tree was cut down by a Maori Activist in 1994!
Three Good Things:
1. He is now sorry he did that!
2. Watching the thin and the thick all walking this Park.
3. Finding a fresh fruit and vegetable shop here in Auckland.
That would make an excellent sledding hill! Look at all that green green grass! Lovely!

@allie912 Its a public park, Alison but you can drive around most of it which is so good!

@alophoto Never get snow here, Amanda and no grass sledding would be allowed! Not that anyone would even think about it.

@mbrutus You are right - very small - but they brought up family here. It has been shifted from its original town position in the 1880"s to this Park

It's a beautiful place - though I wouldn't want to have to mow that lawn with the angle it is on! Jolly hard work methinks.

VML the graduated shading of the grass, provided by the tree canopy.
