Blast from the Past by maggiemae

Blast from the Past

In 1978 we launched Myth Isle. A play on words as it was a Trojan yacht - could be 'missile' if you lisped!
This was a lovely painting that a close friend and sailor painted for us of our boat that took us into many moorings in the Northern part of NZ . Many adventures too. In the top is the Log Book which we found today getting old files out from storage!
Thankful for:
Keeping records - so important!
Oh, I bet reading that log book was fun! Lovely painting and memory image.

Beautiful and your log book is elegant too. What was the longest voyage you did in her??

@gardenfolk Our family retained the love of sailing... My hubby and the youngsters, seemed to like danger!

I like how you included the logbook as an inset in this photo. It must be great to have the memories documented

How wonderful is this, fabulous painting and memories. We used to sail for many years on a few continents, but never owned a yacht. I miss those times on the ocean.

How fun to have a painting of your sailboat! I’ve always wanted some sort of picture of my boat under sail but if I wait on the dock to get a photo, I don’t get to go sailing so it’s a dilemma.

Well you were an adventurous pair maggie...yachting is a very exciting sport I imagine....Fast & furious! She looks a lovely boat too! I would be very scared...We like our feet in the ground in this family although my brother has a small yacht on Lake Windermere.

@redy4et I took some pictures from the dinghy that we used to trail behind us, Elizabeth!

@happypat We had some horrifying times (to me!) though. When I had to strap myself in to stop being thrown into the water!

@ludwigsdiana Hubby misses them to but where we are, there is nowhere to sail unless you are a serious sailor!

@grammyn I've yet to read the logbook - maybe I'll see when we dragged the anchor in the middle of the night and had to get out and into the water! And hit a rock!

@marlboromaam The boat is still around today - after we sold it in the 90's. Still with the same name!
