guess what? Strawberries. These are growing in a veggie pod which has a light lid so the birds can't get the fruit. I have to leave the lid up so the bees can come and fertilise the flowers. I would like to put in more plants but it appears there is a huge shortage of strawberry plants with the damage of an earlier cyclone.

I recently read if you paint some rocks to look like strawberries and place them around the plants before the berries are ripe, the birds will try to eat those and learn they aren't edible so that when the berries are ripe they will leave them alone! I don't know if it works or not but it might be worth a try
