Downtown Seattle And Space Needle by mamabec

Downtown Seattle And Space Needle

Today was a trip to the Veteran’s Administration just south of downtown Seattle. My precious husband served in the Vietnam War in 1966-1967. He was a Combat Corpsman serving with Hotel Company, 2nd Battalion, 7th Marines, (H2/7) in the jungles of Vietnam.
Today we took the drive for him to get his eyes tested. The VA Building/Hospital is located on the south end of Seattle. I dropped him off and drove to the top of the parking garage to capture this photo of downtown Seattle. I am so proud him, his service and his diligent work to get himself on the other side of PTSD. We are the RARE ones … we have been married for 54 years … approximately 38% of Vietnam veteran marriages failed within six months of the veteran’s return from Southeast Asia.
We are blessed.
Beautiful skyline! Thank your husband for his service for me. I can truly appreciate his sacrifice. My dad rests at Arlington and was a POW in North Vietnam for five and a half years.

I have a friend whose husband of 56 years is suffering from a brain tumor as a result of Agent Orange. He has lost several of his buddies from the same horrible chemical. At least they are acknowledging responsibility.

Thank you and bless you. Arlington is a beautiful place of peace. How hard that must have been for you. Todays generation doesn’t understand gratitude - so many lost their lives.
My husband served with the Marines (Navy Corpsman are the medical staff for the Marines)… the men from H2/7 have a reunion every other year and it is such a healing time for all of them. We are gathering this summer in Oklahoma City. (It’s a different city every other year.). SO MUCH healing happens at these reunions.

@allie912 - You are right … they are acknowledging it … my Don waded through fields of Agent Orange.

@mamabec I know... Dad did the POW reunions until his death in '97. They were healing in so many ways and they were fun for him and mom too. God bless the US Marines and Navy, and the Air Force and Army too. Dad was a pilot and served for over 30 years in the USAF. I'd shake your husband's hand and buy him lunch, if I lived closer. He'll just have to settle for my gratitude. =)

I like how the clouds and bushes act as a frame. Potent story

The view of Seattle caught my eye as I was perusing the popular page. It's a very nice image of the lovely city that is having some troubles now. I'm going into Seattle from the Oly Peninsula with my Camera Club, but we'll be in the "tourist" areas so I'm not too concerned (my hubby is tho').
I sure hope your husband was helped at the VA Center. Hats off to you both for what you both have endured and such a wonderful thing to celebrate 54 years of marriage! As much as the poor young service men go through, the women in their lives serve a great purpose too! Such a lucky guy to have had you to support him. Thanks to him for responding to the call.

Thank you so much for sharing about the Seattle skyline. Seattle is NOT the city it used to be. Seems there are so many bent on destruction. We don’t go downtown anymore. It’s very sad.
