We Had A Break-In

Yesterday's devotional from Jesus Calling ... "Leave the outcome of today with Me." Immediately I thought "This doesn't bode well for the outcome of the game." So... we try to check in at the Hilton but no rooms were ready so our overnight suitcases with my purse inside remain in the car. Head over to park in our season-pass lot. Came back in the dark after losing the game by a field goal to discover our back window and passenger side window bashed in. Emotions: sadness, violation, vulnerability, frustration, anger. The thieves hit everything from gas stations, Walmart, Target, McDonalds and Red Box in a two hour period before the fraud alerts were in place. But they also got my precious little heart-shaped compact my mom gave to me on my 50th birthday - it has a breast cancer ribbon on it with pink crystals and engraved on the back is "God's Gift - 12/4/1949". I'm most sad about that. She is in heaven and it was a precious gift in memory of her.

We left the hotel, drove the 65 miles home with no windows and continued to contact agencies who would need to know about the identity fraud.

Grateful that my camera bag was black and between the suitcases and that it just happened to be missed - the rain ponchos and my camera bag were the only things left.

"Leave the outcome of today with Me." ... this is where I come back to. That is what I must do. Do what I can in notifying everyone, change everything, know that no one was physically hurt and that this is a lesson learned.
Touch. I am so sorry. What a bummer. And "leave the out come to me..." is sometimes a stretch especially sorry re your mother's love gift. The photo says it all

Thank you all so much. My dad used to always say, "What goes around, comes around." We know that this kind of stuff comes back to bite the robber, but we can grow from it and learn from it.

I'm so saddened to read this happened to you. I know we have to leave our troubles at His feet....but it still hurts. Especially to lose something sentimental. I hope the terrible thieves are caught.

Becky, so sorry for the violation, and especially for the loss of your compact from your mom...very difficult loss. But you are right, we have to leave ugliness behind and carry the good stuff in our life...good luck cleaning up the pieces. Hugs!

Again Becky, I'm so sorry and I remember the compact. Maybe it will turn up some place. Stranger things have happened. Love you, Mom

I {hate} this! However, the devotional is true...the things of this life belong at His feet and for Him to take care of. I am so very sorry that you have one more thing to "deal" with right now...
But God is good!! This too shall pass...

Our home owners' insurance has an identity theft advocacy clause (Fireman's Fund -- I don't work for them) that is supposed to help with this sort of thing. It's included in the policy so if you have HO's insurance, you might be entitled to some assistance. Good luck. And best wishes.

Oh how absolutely awful!! I have had my purse stolen twice - and yes it is a terrible feeling of being violated, not to mention the weeks and months of replacing all that identification. And some things just aren't replaceable. Hope it all gets resolved soon!
