I was so gung ho to get some trimming done outside today. Got all my tools, the wheelbarrow (for the trimmings)... I was cutting away with the pruning shears, and small clippers. I'd get an arm load of trimmings and walk over to the wheelbarrow to dump them. I was pleased that I was beginning to make a dent in things... Walking back to the silver berry bush, I apparently stepped in a hole and my foot went to the right, my ankle went to the left and I went tumbling forward to the ground! LOL! I would've been a very comical sight if anyone had seen me. I had to laugh at myself for being so careless after the pain went away and hey, I could still stand on it! So I hobbled through trimming a couple more really over grown shrubs. After all, I just twisted my ankle... nothin' broken and it was a long way from my heart. Right? I mean, I'm not supposed to break down, I can't!
When I was done and put all the tools away, pulled my boot and sock off to find a nicely swollen and puffy ankle. Time to put that puppy on ice. But, I did put a dent in some yard work today and I'm very satisfied with that. More tomorrow with or without the Ace wrap! "Cowgirl up!" Ha ha! This is Not the nice shot I planned for today but, it will teach me to be more careful where I step. Hoping all the humor I've tried to put in this will come across. I really am okay. IT'S NOT SERIOUS!
glad it's not broken but it's sure gonna be sore for a bit. sounds like an excuse to sit back and rest with it up and catch up on something like reading! You be careful!! it's dangerous out there!
Oops, reading and typing. I am so sorry that this happened to you. Made me laugh just a little, sorry. You tell things so funny. I know how painful this is as I have done this a few times. I sure hope you are ok and have something to wear on your feet. I have two orthopedic boots and a special shoe, and wish you lived closer as we would help you out. (My husband and I that is). Wow, you are definitely a trooper. May be that the boot helped what you did as I was barefoot when this happened to me. Glad you got a lot of yard work done. You make me laugh and you are one special and tough woman. Take care.
Oh, lady! Praying that you are on the mend soon. Sweet shot and funny descriptions of your mishap. Great way to capture your misadventure, too. Be careful...don't cowgirl up too soon!
Well . . what can I say. Now that's both of us within a couple of weeks apart! You be careful girl or I'm going to have to come down there (and help you!) Seriously, Maggie. Please take care. Funny how that happens and one doesn't feel the pain at first. I know when I fell with the camera, I got up and continued taking pics. And THEN the pain came. And the swelling, etc. PLEASE be careful, my friend. Love the photo tho. You trooper you!! :)
@msk1p2 It'll be good as new in a day or two and I'll wrap it up. I'm okay! Really! Somebody upstairs was watchin' out for me. No time to sit other than here. LOL! Thank you, Sandra!
@darsphotos No worries. I am okay, really! Will be just fine in a day or two. I'm glad it made you laugh, that's what I was hoping for! I just need to watch for holes as well as snakes. LOL! You are so sweet to make such an offer of help, Darlene. I'll get 'er done though. It'll just take me a while. Oh, yes... barefoot and I might've sprained it or worse! Ha ha! I am pretty durn tough! Not super woman but, pretty tough. =)
@horselover Really, it's fine! No worries. Thank you, Jennifer! It's one I would leave rather than take but a great reminder for me to watch for holes as well as snakes. =)
@debsulzberger LOL! Did that! But, it's fine really and truly! I'll be up on it tomorrow and getting after it again. Thank you for your comments, Deb! Much appreciated!
@amandalomonaco It'll be fine and I will bandage it tomorrow. Glad you found it funny. That's what I wanted to read! Thank you, Amanda! LOL! I will look for holes in addition to snakes!
@meisen325 It's just a twisted ankle and I'll be up on it tomorrow. I've had paper cuts that hurt worse. LOL! I appreciate the comment about the pic, Monica. Should've had and odd number of items. Didn't think about that.
Oh poor you!!! I feel for ya! I have twisted my ankles SOOO many times and it is never fun :( I hope tomorrow the swelling is down and u can continue on cleaning up your yard!!! Keep that ice on it!!
Well, Mags, you did the right thing! I put one foot in a rabbit hole and carried on, not wanting to complain. The my ankle did not get better and it took six months befor the fragility subsided!
Ever the photographer - you managed to capture the moment. Even setting up with the boot and the glove, lighting and background. Hope your back on your feet tomorrow.
Ouch! Maggie your foot and your ankle are always supposed to be traveling in the same direction!! LOL bless you hon....hope the swelling goes down soon, and you still took a fab picture....I love how you soundtrack your photo's and misadventures too :) cool tune as always!
Ack, I hope your foot heals quickly! I think you're amazing with your ability to grab a hold of yourself and still find humor in these circumstances. Great shot, but you need to be careful!
I love working in my yard, even have a pair of those gloves. Don't you hate when something like that happenes and sets you back a while. But i know you, you'll getter done!!! lol Good picture BTW...
oh sorry about your mishap and glad your ok..great composition!!..every time I fall and its a lot..my first thought is please don't let anything be broken..i don't have time for that!..
Oh no! First of all I'm happy to hear it wasn't serious. Second of all, this is really what I should be doing, but excuses, excuses ... it's too hot today. Thirdly, I'm glad this didn't happen while you were trying to photograph something ;-) Your shot today says it all. Take care and heal fast!
@mantha Aww! Samantha, you're the only one to listen to the tune! And best of all, you see the humor in it! Thank you! I was going for laughs. My ankle is fine. It's a long ways from my heart. So much seriousness in the world today! Hard to get laughs and I thought it was hilarious. I was laughing at myself lying there on the ground. Course, I cursed myself at first. LOL!
@sangwann Thank you, Dione! Ankle is fine! It's a long ways from my heart!
@myautofocuslife LOL! Thank you, Livia for seeing the humor! So few did! The world is so durn serious these days and it was a long ways from my heart! I will be more careful. Can't have too many more of those spills.
@denisedaly Thank you, Denise! Ankle is just fine. Appreciate your comments!
@fredia It amazes me how so few understand how some people just walk it off and keep on going. But, Fredia isn't that what we're really supposed to do? The best example of this I can think of is a "little britches" rodeo. These 4 to 6 year old kids get knocked off these sheep and they don't cry, they don't scream and run to momma who's having a cow because her kid fell off. Not doubt some serious injuries occur but what a difference it makes in little men and little women. Strikingly different attitudes in our own country... the strong, independents who get up, dust themselves off and keep on going vs. the weak, emotional, proverbially castrated dependents we have so many of today. Amazing! That's why I love the whole western genre. I think it's like an attitude most folks have lost. Ya gotta be tough! I don't want to live in a "Nanny" state! Thank you for your comments, gal! LOL! I can wear out a pair of these gloves every summer and they don't prevent blisters when your hands sweat so much.
@traciwood Aww! Traci, thank you for the comment about the pic! Ankle is fine! It was a long ways from my heart!
That's a pretty darn good shot, with good lighting and composition, notwithstanding the pain you were in. Glad you're o.k. and have such a great attitude to boot!
@copperheadglass I'm glad you laughed! I was hoping more would see the humor. My ankle is a long way from my heart. =) Appreciate your comments, as always. Thank you, Meredith!
Ouch! I've sprained both of my ankles, so I feel your pain. Actually hope you just twisted it and it isn't actually sprained. I get a sense of satisfaction after a good afternoon of yard work too. Enjoy your Sunday and keep your foot elevated. :)
@rmkk It was just twisted, Marlene. It's fine today. Thank you so much for your comments!
@cmc1200 Now, that is one heck of a compliment! Thank you, Caryn. I didn't think so until last year and I found out how tough I can be when I have to be strong. Not supposed to break down. Ankle is just fine. Appreciate your comments, as always.
@heidievans73 No worries! Ankle is just fine, only twisted. I wrapped it with an Ace bandage and was back out trimming today until the rain sent me back in the house. Thank you, Heidi!
happy for you to hear it's just twisted, a wild adventurer cowgirl like you should wear a pair of cowboy boots no? And no more soft boots...no? You nned something to maintain your ankle !
OMG.... I'm talking to you like at my daughters!!!!!! :))
It's just for your safety ;))

Hope your ankle is doing better by now! I do uncoordinated things like that all the time, and I'm often glad no one has seen me. It's nice that you can laugh about it :-)
Actually all injuries aside, I do love the composition of this shot:)
I think you should leave the pre dinner cocktails until AFTER you do the gardening..lolol
Ouch, memories of a bad sprain. Purple to the toes for days. It took months to come right, putting pressure on the stirrup iron while riding was painful for many months. Hope you are getting better.
Wow. You are a true 365er - turning a mishap into a photo-op. Glad that you're okay and also put a dent in your yard work. Now get back out there and watch your step.
@loragill LOL! Watching for snakes, holes and being careful I don't trim my finger tip off anymore. I've been accident prone these past couple of weeks. Thank you for the comments, Lora! Most appreciated. The ankle is fine.
