Springtime - peach to copper by marlboromaam

Springtime - peach to copper

This tree grows across the road from my driveway. I've always admired its twisted gnarly branches but never noticed its new leaves in springtime before now. NOPE! It's NOT an autumn shot!!! This is the color of the new leaves sprouting out on this tree and it's NOT blossoms either. So unusual, I know. It seems to be some kind of oak tree but bears further investigation on my part. This shot really does NOT do any justice to all the shades of peach to rust in these new leaves either.

I do believe it's some kind of oak! Will let you know when I find out for sure!
Beautiful

There's something about trees (and branches and leaves...), isn't there?
March 31st, 2012
@kerristephens Thank you very much, Kerri!

@vskolnik I think so, Vee! Thank your so much for the visit!

Really is beautiful, Maggie. I do know what you mean about the "colors" because we have the same thing here. The new buds are a different color, but just as interesting and pretty. We wonder if our plants here will die off some now. Got a cold rain this a.m. and then snow. Yikes! Weird weather.

It could be the seeds prior to leaves. Great observation. Hope you are having a great Friday afternoon/evening.
March 31st, 2012
Nice! There are literally millions of leaves on this tree! Such a cool shot!
March 31st, 2012
Very cool. Have no idea what it is, but it is very pretty.
March 31st, 2012
@karenann Wow! It's just too danged hot and humid here! I'm sitting on ice packs and sleeping with them. Don't want to cut the AC on yet. It's too early! Hopefully, the new buds and leaves will be okay and it won't be cold enough to freeze them. Thank you for the sweet comments and visit, gal!

Great colors! Isn't it great to discover new things?
March 31st, 2012
We have some trees around here that look brown or bronze or even reddish when the new growth starts coming out so that when you see a cluster of them together it looks like it could be the Fall. I love this picture.
March 31st, 2012
How beautiful, love the colors, Maggie. Why do you need ice packs, are you ok? Read Catherine's comment above.

@darsphotos Thank you, Darlene! Because it's too hot and I figure it's way too early to cut on the AC, plus I really can't afford what it will do to my electric bill right now. So I'm sitting here sweating in the heat and humidity.

@marlboromaam I did not know it is that warm there right now. It has been up to close to 70 here but not humid. I hear you, it is so expensive and I dread using our A/C in the Summer as rates are so high. Will live in our pool. You are welcome to join us. Too bad we do not live closer. Hoping for a mild Summer again this year.
April 1st, 2012
@darsphotos LOL! I may have to turn on the hose a lot this summer. Never a mild summer here. This is South Carolina! Ugh!
