It's a ho-hum pic, but you can see some of the work I've been doing. I forget how many days it's taken me to clear the ivy vines on three sides of the screen house. One more side to go! I've dug up roots as big around as my arm, too! It kind of got away from me during that past three or four years. Ugh! Tomorrow, I'll rake the backyard to get ready to mow Saturday. I'll get to the rest of the vines some time next week. I'm wore out again. Going to grab a bath and a bite to eat and will catch up with you in just a bit.
wow, that's so pretty! i can see where the ivy is in relation to what you've gotten accomplished. nice job! i can't even imagine how exhausting that has been. i give you a ton of credit for doing it yourself! way to go!!!
You should have done a before and after shot. How do we know you weren't really sitting on the couch with your laptop surfin' the 365 all day? Clearing out the vines, indeed. Humph! Come on, fess up... :-P
Looking good! all your hard work is paying off =) I love round your home and yard there's always something else to see..... and it always looks so pretty and peaceful.
There's no substitute for hard work, something that today's kids ain't learnin' - unless they hang around with me! (I'm pretty sure that's why God made kids, to help grown-ups). Kudos to you for a job well done!
And now you can sit back and enjoy the reward of looking at your beautiful "digs!" (Pun intended!) It's lovely and love that little screen house. Don't know how you do it, Maggie .. but take a hot soaking bath, have some nourishing food and an adult beverage, and come and joing us!
@litljen LOL! Thank you, Jennifer! If I don't do it, it won't get done! Appreciate your very kind comments and visit, as always!
@cromwell LOL! I've got before shots and I am saving them for the big finish. =) Thank you for your comments and visit! Always appreciated!
@nlaurie Thank you, Laurie! Appreciate your kind comments and visit, as always!
@mantha Thank you so much, Sam! Looking forward to getting the majority of the hard work done so I can start on the house. LOL! Appreciate your kind comments and visit, as always!
@coastandcactus Aww! Cissy, no kids around to help me and it's gotta be done, cause it ain't gonna do itself. LOL! Appreciate your comments and visit!
@sugarmuser Have to, Sharon! Thank you for your kind comments and visit! Always appreciated!
@maggiemae Ahh! The screen house will need some work. I'm trying to get rid of all the ivy since it's so hard to keep up with. Wish me luck with that, Maggiemae! Appreciate your kind comments! Thankyou!
@rockinrobyn Thank you, Robyn! Most appreciated! I like your new profile pic!

@rmkk LOL! It isn't over by far yet! Hope you won't get board. Thank you for your kind comments and visit, Marlene! Always appreciated!

@klemieux More to do but, a whole lot done! Thank you, Ken!
@karenann LOL! You know we do what we have to do. Thank you for the wonderful comments, Karen! Always appreciative and grateful to have them, too! Hugs!
@twinsplusone Not done yet, but getting there! Thank you, Sharon! That's a blue bird house and one that the nasty squirrels have chewed up the hole so the blue birds won't have anything to do with it now. I have to replace it - again! This time putting a metal plate with the same size hole in it so the damn squirrels won't ruin it for my blue birds. The varmints are so destructive!
@ebdubay It's a pretty big back yard, but the front is much bigger. Requires lots of work, Erinn. Appreciate your comments and visit, as always! Thank you!
@copperheadglass Too late, I'm wore out but, I gotta keep after it until it's done! LOL! Thank you for your kind comments, Meredith! Always appreciated! Hugs!
You have a lot of energy there gal! Good work! Yards do take a lot of time. Sometimes we wonder... but then we look out at the pretty expanse, and say yeah...it's worth it.
It is so obvious that you have been working hard, Maggie. You are sure amazing, aka Super Woman!! I love this photo. What a cute screened house. What do you do with it once its all cleared out and the ivy is down? Amazing that you have roots that big but ivy can be like that. Great that you know when to stop and get your R&R and back to here.
Great work Maggie!
Phisical and with this shot! The perspective is amazing, the green is very vivid and the contrast with the wood is perfect!
I will come to leave there! :D
Very nice done!
Looks wonderful and sounds like a lot of work! We have 3 screens made out of the same screens as your screen house that are overgrown with passionfruit vines, those things are so hardy! I think its time to give them a clean up too!
@darsphotos Thank you so much, Darlene! LOL! If I was super woman, everything would be done by now. The screen house has a picnic table in it. It's used to store extra outside chair and my "red neck pool" in the winter time. It needs some work - new screen and a new roof, plus one side is sinking so it needs to be raised. It's a nice place for outdoor dining when the weather's nice in the springtime but, it's just too hot and humid in the summer time. Appreciate your comments, as always! Hugs!
@purdey I never knew periwinkle could be so hardy like that! Oh my! Appreciate your kind comments, Sharon! Always appreciate your visit!
@simonesta LOL! You are so kind, Simonetta! Thank you for your lovely comments and visit, as always!
@pointnshoot28 I know a little land is mighty expensive where you live. Not so much here in South Carolina depending on which county you buy in. I have about 2.53 acres. Would love to have more but can't afford it. But it's in the country, away from the madness of a city and so many people. Takes lots of work to maintain it. Thank you for your kind comments and visit, Donna! Always appreciated!
@myautofocuslife I try to do as much as I can every day except Sunday. But I try not to do so much that I can't clean up my mess and put away my tools. LOL! Thank you for your kind comments, Livia! Always appreciated!
@sangwann LOL! Dione, you must get to your garden. Thank you for your kind comments! Always enjoy reading them! Most appreciated!
@inertie Thank you for the visit and your comments, gal! Most appreciated!
@peterdegraaff Ha ha! Actually, it was your comment about ivy destroying things that prompted me to dig it all up and tear it all down, Peter! Thank you for your comments and visit! Always appreciated!
@cimes1 LOL! Sorry, Carole! Thank you for your comments and visit! Always appreciated!
@traciwood Thank you, Traci! Appreciate your sweet comments!
@aleksandra It is a lot of work. LOL! Gotta be done! Wishing you luck on your passion fruit vines. Thank you for your comments and visit! Most appreciated!
@steeler Virginia creeper is much easier to tear up thank ivy, Howard. LOL! Thank you for your comments and visit! Always appreciated!
Hey Mags, my second comment here so that I can tell you I just listened to Joyce Shaffer's "Takin' Back Our Country", loved it, thanks. Let's "help em' pack......"
Wow! I envy the fact you have had the time, let alone the size of your garden. When you have done I have two raised beds that need digging in, I'm sure they'll be a walk in the park compared to Ivy removal!
@lizzy_lu123 What lovely comments! Thank you, Lisa! Appreciate your visit!
@simon0128 Appreciate that! Thank you so much, Simon!
@justeddie LOL! I was laid off from my job, Eddie. If I don't find another one soon, I may have to try to sell the place so I have to get some work done while I'm not workin'. Appreciate your comments and visit. If I lived close, I would help. Really!
@ruthmouch Aww! Thank you, Ruth! So much more to do! Appreciate your very kind comments and visit!
@marlboromaam You are Super Woman for just what you do as most could not get out and work as you do at your home, including me. So glad you keep us in the loop of your every day life at your place and take photos as you go. It is looking good there, Maggie.
you have been a busy girl maggie....btw, what's a screen house ? It's not a term we are familiar with in the UK and your screen house only seems to have 3 sides (one open).
Nice to see how big your garden is (we don't call them back yards in the UK)...front garden and back garden are the terms we use :)
@phil_howcroft Thank you, Phil! The door is on the other side. It's "screened" to keep the bugs away while outdoors. My picnic table is in there, along with the grill. It's a nice place to dine outside when the weather is nice without pesky bugs bothering you. It is in need of some repairs, but doing what I can do. You haven't seen the whole "back garden" or the whole front one either. Waiting to finish before I put up more pics. Appreciate your kind comments and visit, as always!
Your hard work is definitely paying off. The screen house looks very nice. Know what you mean about the ivy. It can be a blessing and a curse. Nice for privacy, but home to lots of pests. Have a fence between me and one of the neighbors covered in the stuff. In trimming it back we (the neighbors and me) found numerous lost balls and other items. Lots of places for possums, raccoons, and rats to nest and hide.
@beteljooz I know about the pests! I worry about copperheads more than anything else. I need to be able to see them before they sense me! Thank you for all your kind comments, George! Appreciate your visit, as always!
@lornavale How do I do that without killing the other shrubs? I sure don't want to do it over again anytime soon. Thank you for the lovely comments, Barb! Most appreciated!
