I would NOT want to touch this guy with all his spiny, spiky hairs or quills! If I was a bird, I wouldn't want it in my mouth either! Ack! He was less than half an inch long - pretty small. Looks like he packs his own weapons!
It's been a creepy, buggy day! Not only have I uploaded three (3) bug shots, but certain things are really beginning to bug me, too! I wish people would check things out before they pass on bad information to others. My mother gets so upset with some of these emails people call her about and they never bother to check snopes.com or urbanlegends.com to see if they're true or not! I call that part of the problem with information today! Oiy!
Yes, it is amazing when a 5 year old email or post comes around about that "friend of the family's missing red headed daughter" and that we need to repost /send the message ASAp to save her. This c pillar is scary looking. Sometimes, they just look scary...I wonder if this one is packing some heat too? I am posting one in a few minutes for Sunday that is packing heat big time!
Having worked with information security for many years it is scary to see how thoughtless/naive/ignorant many are when it comes to sharing information without checking the credibility first. It bugs me too!
@espyetta I've been "stung" by a caterpillar before! Was pulling those little spiky hairs out of my fingers for days! They'll break off in your skin! Can't wait to see what you post!
@johns366 Thank you very much, John! I don't know, I'm sorry to say. No time to research my bugs I uploaded today and I hate that! LOL! Whenever I don't research, I get asked questions I can't answer.
Furry and spiky! We have no such exotic bugs here in my garden. Just snails & ordinary green caterpillars. Starting to think the USA is a scary place for macro wildlife!
@laurentye Hey Lauren! I'm fine. How are you and the sweet little one? I hope great! Thank you for your lovely comments! Always appreciated and always happy to see you!
Mags - Excellent shot and........ i agree about the phony emails. Can't tell you how many times I've received them, checked them out, and then replied to the sender that what they've sent is Fiction!!!! Enough to drive me crazy too, although it's a very short drive. Take care Mags.
@ronphotos365 Thank you, Ron! This particular case was a video and it really upset my mother and it scared the hell out of me! You're right, not a long drive!
cute little guy! I say bug off to the problems!!! I know, easier said than done...and I DO hate those emails too...my Mom gets hung up with them too...I say DELETE!!! your focus on this guy is great!
What a fantastic shot, Maggie. I have never seen a caterpillar that looked like this. I would not touch it either.
I agree with you, so many forwards about so many untrue things that are not going to happen freak people out. They should check and see if they are true before forwarding to anyone. Unfortunately snopes is not always accurate so I have a friend to turn to who is into what is what and get his help.
You bet he has got some serious defenses going on there!! I have never seen anything like that either!! Fantastic find and nicely captured!! I am going to look him up now as it has peaked my curiosity!!
Wow, that's quite an eye-catching caterpillar! Amazing details! I wouldn't touch it either. It does make me wonder what it'll become, a moth or a butterfly. Awesome capture! 8)
Great spiky shot! love the focus and colors! Yes I agree with you Maggie, we ought to check things out for credibility of info before jumping into conclusions.
@darsphotos Thank you, Darlene! I may send you the link for your "go to" friend to check out. I can't find anything on snopes or urban legends about it.
@marlboromaam Feel free to send the link if you wish. He is behind as I have sent him two now. Usually I delete stuff that says there is a massive virus or other things but so many are so sneaky and send e-mails around that look so real. Have to be so careful not to get a virus from those. I send e-mails back to friends if they are just a link and ask if they have sent them or they have been hacked and usually they have been hacked. Sure do not want computer issues but so easy to have happen today. Nothing is too important to delete if questionable unless and e-mail from someone you know in text.
@marlboromaam I would just not open links sent from this person in the future. Sad that these are being sent to your Mom. I would not consider this a friend or if a friend I would tell the person not to send them any longer. I have flat out told people what I think, or delete the person from my contacts and then it goes to trash. Good luck.
Actually, if you look at his attire - he's quite a fashionable fellow. Quite haute couture! Personally think he's quite beautiful. ;) Unfortunately until we all become non-gullible those emails will keep popping up. I just press delete!
Well, first of all this an amazing shot of this furry fashion plate. 2nd, I will agree w/you on e-mails. There isn't anything that bugs me more when I get all these fwd e-mails that I've seen 1000 times at least---political and the bizarre (not checking Snopes) in particular ;-) I think the Saint had a photo of something like this recently.
That is a lethal looking critter! I got one of those idiotic emails yesterday - at work. As if I don't have enough legitimate emails to go through! One of my co-workers sent it. I used to take the time to point out to them that it was false, but it does no good. I just delete.
@cimes1 Thank you, Carole! Really appreciate your kind remarks!
@grannysue Thank you, Linda! Grateful for your comments and visit! Mom doesn't have a computer. Her friends call her about the ones they get in their email. Her friend sent me a copy. This one was a link to a YouTube video... not good and very scary. I am not an alarmist! But, it was pretty frightening to say the very least.
He is really cool looking. I don't think I would touch him either lol! Your focus is always so awesome. You must have a very steady hand:) My mother drives me nuts with those email too!! lol
I would not want that in my mouth with or without those spikes! Such a kool capture of this Caterpillar - he reminds me so much of this plant I took a picture this last fall too.
@tanagerjohn Thank you very much, John! I really appreciate you letting me know! I have to let @espyetta know that you know what it is. Grateful for your kind remark!
