Myrtle's Song - A Lullaby...

Every beach has a song - to my ears anyhow. This is a video of Myrtle's Song (Myrtle Beach, South Carolina) and the "cowgirl poem" she inspired me to write the last time I was there in 2011. If the text moves too fast, try pausing it, then continue.

This is how I feel about the beach. I happen to vacation in Myrtle Beach when I can. I love the part about "Hard heartaches leave me now". That's exactly how the ocean feels to me. In a matter of minutes, the world seems a better place once I am on the beach!
June 18th, 2012

So beautiful and soothing, Maggie. What a talent you have ... so creative and this music goes with the words beautifully. I would love to live near the beach ... what a great de-stressor.
June 19th, 2012
@karenann LOL! I hear so many people say that until the first big hurricane hits and then they don't want to live there anymore! Thank you for you kind comments, gal! This one came easy. Writing cowboy poetry is harder for me than taking pics. I really have to be inspired by an event in my life to write one. I am mulling a couple over in my mind about pilots being cowboys of the air and about being jobless with little hope of finding a job. We'll see how it goes.
June 19th, 2012
@marlboromaam YES! Love both topics! And they'd be perfect for cowboy poetry. Do it! I KNOW how hard it is to write ... my concentration in college was writing. It didn't come easy for me at all. I struggled and it happened only when inspired .. but you have it, Maggie. Go for it. :)
June 19th, 2012
@karenann Now is not a good time but, maybe later. ;)
June 19th, 2012

Very nice verses. Very soothing.
I would have preferred to hear it read out loud by you, but it is very enjoyable.
November 16th, 2021
@monikozi Thank you, Monica. My voice cracks and quivers so much. I'd rather not. It was the cowboy poet that insisted I read the other one outloud.
November 16th, 2021
But it has such a nice feel. And the cowboy poet is right: only the author can interpret the verses as they were intended. And the particularities of your voice make the verses more particular and personal. It is not a shrill voice. It is very pleasing to listen to.
November 16th, 2021
@monikozi You are so kind. I do have a voice version. I'll send you the link as soon as I'm able if you really want me to do so. I kept it private because I didn't anyone to mock me. LOL! =)
November 16th, 2021
@monikozi https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VC62c16swHM Let me know when you view it and I'll take out of the public availability. =)
November 17th, 2021
@marlboromaam Oh, that's something else!!! Superb. I am not very fond of the sound of the sea - in general. But this one, with that soft song and your soft voice, I would play at evening, when I go to bed. Lovely, Mags!
November 17th, 2021
@monikozi You are too kind, Monica. Thank you! The sound of the waves coming in and out is a great sleeping pill.
