Fallen... by marlboromaam

Fallen...

I wonder if anyone was around to hear it make a big thud when it hit the ground. Don't know if it was the wind, or disease, or insects, or a combination which made it fall. Glad it didn't hit the fence or the house!
Oh geez, glad it did fall in the forest and not on your property. The question: Does the fallen tree make sound if nobody hears it...? LOL.

@dutchothotmailcom LOL! I'm sure there were some critters around to scurry or crawl off when it hit.

I do like your forest shots!

@milaniet Thank you, Milanie! Not many trees in this shot - on the edge, but a pretty good view of the wash.

Great capture!

Well spotted.

Lovely shot, can you cut it up and use as fire wood?
November 3rd, 2020
mmmm the age old question, did it therefore even make a noise 😊

what a beautiful wood, I love the ground so full of leaves, I'm sorry for the fallen tree

Is this what they call natural selection.

It's not the only one so I guess it could be termites. Sorry to see it, though.

Many trees around here were blown over from the storm last week.

Nice place to live close to :)

@kwind Thank you!

@sdutoit Thanks, Sylvia!

@ludwigsdiana Thank you, Diana! My good neighbor can if he wants to.

@koalagardens LOL! We'll never know.

@santina Thank you, Santina! It's okay - bound to happen for a few.

@wakelys Maybe. We've had a problem with pine beetles, and sweet gums are susceptible to disease around here.

@sangwann Pine beetles for the pine and disease for the sweet gum trees. It's common around here.

@k9photo I think this one probably fell last year in another storm, Kate. Was diseased though.

@pdulis Thanks, Peter!

Well spotted. Very nice shot.

Nice! We had so many huge trees come down in our area when Zeta rolled through. The cleanup has been massive.

Love the detail and textures

That is a tall one! Well captured.

@johnfalconer Thanks, John!

@kvphoto I can imagine. Hopefully, we're done with hurricanes for this years.

@craftymeg Thanks, Margaret!

@linnypinny Thank you, Lin!

If that keeps up, it's thinning out more and more. I don't like when trees are marked to be taken down due to a disease, but it helps save the surrounding healthy trees.
November 3rd, 2020
@bruni The sweet gum trees around here are susceptible to disease. The long needle pine trees always have to battle with the pine beetles. It happens. Storms with strong winds after a soaking rain are the worst though.

That's dramatic!

@365jgh I thought so. Thanks, Judy!
