When I started with 365 nine years ago, it forced me to notice everything that grows on my little patch in the sticks. I was delighted when I found and identified a little hawthorne tree, and it's still alive. It's a very slow grower compared to other trees and I have yet to ID its variety. Maybe this spring when its leaves bud out I can pin it down. There are a few varieties of hawthorne that are native to the USA and grow wild in the Carolinas and Georgia.
