The Dump

Vera @vera365 challenged me to "try to take a photo that captures what Henri Cartier-Bresson meant by "The Decisive Moment". It does not have to be a street photo, but anything where timing matters." Dan and I went to the swimming pool where I tried to get a picture of him coming off one of the long curvy slides. I've posted some shots from the slides on the 21st, 23rd, and 24th, but just before we headed home, I took this. It's the moment when this water feature dumps it's load of water that has been accumulating as it tilts back and forth. Right after it dumps it tips quite far and not much water from above stays in, but as it loses the momentum it stays more or less upright more of the time and when enough water has accumulated the weight causes it to suddently tilt way over and dump its load. There's a really large feature at another park pool in the city that does something similar, but on a grander scale. Maybe later this summer I'll get over there and try for a shot of that huge bucket as it dumps.
@vera365 Again, thank you for the challenge.

Ohhh these things always make me nervous - that split-second moment when it actually flips!
