All the dinosaurs, Neanderthal Men, and I took a field trip to the Flint Hills Discovery Center on Friday, September 2nd. I wanted them all to see the Dinosaur Exhibit that has been there all Summer and closes on September 11th. But the dinos wanted to post the pictures on the month of August for the "toysinaugust" 365 Toys month of meetup and play. So I rearranged a couple of photos -- put them in September instead, to allow these photos to appear on this weeks dates. The last week in August the 365 Toys were showing their favorite thing about summer and, hands down, it was the Dinosaur Exhibit.
The individual dinosaurs pictured here and I had fun working on this collage. I let each of them decide how to process their photo. The Trachodon (posing with info on Hadrosaurs, of which he is one) settled on a very vintage treatment.
The Triceratops Twins liked the Trachodon's vintage look, and we applied some of that (which did help mitigate the overexposure in the lower left), but they also wanted lots of color. So it's sort of non-vintage vintage.
The Stegosaurus just wanted color all the way, and who could blame him with the very colorful model of a baby Stegosaurus he's posing next to? You just don't usually think of color with our little guys and their uniformly worn, bronze-veneered appearance.
The Apatosaurus family -- particularly the youngsters -- wanted a dynamic look, so we applied a zoom focus that makes the model look like it's whipping it's head around (sort of). And the Dimetrodon, bless him, has always dreamed of being in the movies. Frank has chosen a number of old "dinosaur" movies when it has been his turn to choose a film for Sunday movie night. I think that has caught the Dimetrodon's imagination. So we chose a border that looks like a film frame.
