Group Portrait at the Dinosaur Exhibit

After taking four of the dinosaurs to see this exhibit over the Memorial Day weekend, I was waiting to take the whole group until one of the Apatosaurus youngsters was repaired, so they all could go. Yes, though I didn't say so when I posted this photo:

that Apatosaurus fell doing that stunt. Even though it was just about an inch and a half or so, it was onto concrete and his head came cleanly off where it seemed to have been repaired before.

I hid him for a while, afraid to admit to Frank that he had been injured and needed repair. When I finally did, Frank wasn't really upset. He said they had any number of bits broken off before. Come to think of it -- yeah, the Allosaurus is missing a hand; the Mososaurus is missing one of his fins, and this particular Apatosaurus youngster has a significantly shorter tail than the other. I may even remember it being re-shaped to make up for a missing portion. But, crikey! You got to get his HEAD back on. I planned to contact the metalworking professor at the University, as I remembered a couple of dinosaurs being repaired when the Metals Club held a repair session some years back to raise money. But seeing as it was summer and school was out, I finally took him to the jewelers, who got the head back on, which was the bottom line. I wasn't very impressed with the job they did, but in all fairness, they usually work in gold and silver and not in bronze veneered lead (which is what Frank has been told the dinos are inside). Sometime later I may see if the metalworking art students or teachers can improve on it any.

But, back to the exhibit -- We all went last Friday. It was September 2nd (I'm posting this on the 8th) but the dinosaurs wanted all the photos posted to August dates so they were included in the all-August 365 Toys reunion. The last week of August, the Toys were showing their favorite thing about summer, and this summer it was the Dinosaur Exhibit, of course. The Neanderthal Men found the exhibit interesting and were glad to be included in the group photo, but didn't want to pose for any other photos, seeing as how they are not even remotely dinosaurs. Even the "marine mammals" Plesiosaurus and Mososaurus are more closely related to dinosaurs proper than the Neanderthal Men are.

Anyway, it was an outing enjoyed by all, and one that will be remembered for a long time.
Oh, my goodness! Too cute! Fabulous!

I am mortified about Apatosaurus' accident! I am very relieved that his head has been reunited with the rest of his body.
