The Columbian Theatre in Wamego, KS (near Manhattan) is called the Columbian because the man who owned the building at the time of the Chicago World's Fair, known as the 1893 World's Columbian Exposition, bought various items from the Fair when it was finished, and brought them back to decorate his new music hall. Among the items were six large mural paintings from the U.S. Government building at the Fair. Since I'm again doing the "flash of red February" I've converted this to Black and White, but I'm going to post the color version in my Alternate's album also. https://365project.org/mcsiegle/alternates/2018-02-01
And if you want to see all of the six paintings that line the walls of the auditorium, here is a link to the Columbian's web site: http://columbiantheatre.com/tour/1893.asp
I took the picture the other night when I drove Frank to and from a rehearsal for "Oklahoma" because he'd had an injection for pain and the Dr. said it was advisable to not drive for the rest of the day. I'm not sure why the space was set with round tables. Perhaps a special event was going to take place. Usually it has rows of chairs facing its proscenium stage.
