Saint David (Dewi Sant) is patron saint of Wales. Today Welsh people all over the world celebrate Wales and all things Welsh. You don't actually have to be Welsh to celebrate today.. If you love Wales or Welsh music or Welsh cakes etc -- the more the merrier.
The Welsh cakes are for a meeting this afternoon of the Deep Creek Needlecraft Club. I'm co-hosting. Since it's Saint David's day, I told the person who is hosting the meeting at her house that I would bring Welsh cakes, in addition to the fruit I'd already promised.
I made sure the pigs understood that the Welsh cakes were FOR THE MEETING. I laid aside a very few for pig rolling tomorrow. If any of these are left after the meeting, there might be more for us. My vintage (Pigmania) pigs, Mochyn and Maiale, of course have had Welsh cakes before. They are convinced they are Pedigree Welsh Pigs https://www.britishpigs.org.uk/welsh That may be. If they're not I'm not going to be the one to break the news to them, so let's just leave it at that. The new (Pass the Pigs) pigs, Svynya and Cerdo, had never celebrated Saint David's Day before.
I begged the pigs NOT to say anything about Saint David's Day to the dinosaurs and Neanderthals--PARTICULARLY not to tell them there are Welsh cakes. There are too many of them and I don't have time to make more right now. I'll make another batch later and even let the dinos help (they love doing that!)...just not today.

In 2002 I had the privilege of singing in the cathedral with the North American Welsh Choir (Côr Cymry Gogledd America) We're going back to Wales this summer -- though not back to Saint David's cathedral.
I'd better post this and finish getting ready for the meeting--fruit to cut etc. Looking at this picture is making ME hungry for those Welsh cakes.

Good shot of the pigs (perhaps not their best side) and the container full of delicious Welsh cakes. I guess I need to write that day down because unless I stay up all night no Welsh cakes for me. Somehow virtual treats are not as good.
