The dinosaurs and Neanderthals saw the wooden blocks I had used for last week’s get pushed and artist’s challenge, and that put them in the mood for some play time. I showed them a neat card game I had forgotten I owned—“Extinction: the last game they ever played.” “Look” I said, “it has dinosaurs on the box!” They were less than enthusiastic about that. They were actually rather creeped out by it. I can’t see why.
At that point I had a brainstorm. My get pushed challenge from Fran was a photo with a component made of wood. He said: "Of course, a component in the whole composition, because I'd love to see other things.” Jenga! Their wood would be a contrast to the metal dinos.
The dinosaurs jumped on that idea. (As I think of it now, maybe anything was preferable to the "Extinction" game.) I had a bit of a time trying to get the tower out of the box intact. In the end, I had to reconstruct most of it. The height of the finished stack bowled them over. I never thought about how it would look to someone of their size. We took over the table in the music room and inadvertently brought a little chipmunk along for the ride. It clambered up the pile lickety split and wouldn't come down. The Rhamphorhyncus wanted to fly up there to get it down, but the rest were afraid his weight would jeopardize the game, so in the end, the chipmunk just stayed up there until the final moment of collapse. Luckily no one was hurt when it did.
I might have known that no one would offer to help me pick up the game and get it back into the box. Sigh! Well, after all, it was MY get pushed challenge they were helping me with.
I have to stop burning the candle at both ends. While writing this in order to post the picture, I fell asleep in the chair in the living room after we finished our family "movie night." (It was a gory horror movie. I hope I don't have nightmares!) It's now almost 1:00 a.m.
Hello, Mary!!
We are partnered for this week's get pushed challenge. I see that you have been really busy lately so your challenge is homemade food worthy of a magazine cover - or if you are traveling - a food photograph from a restaurant.
But I would prefer homemade food since you would probably have more time to get the set-up correctly.
@farmreporter Thanks for the challenge. I'll see what I can do. This week is still OK for home cooking. We won't have left on our travels to Wales with the choir until the 29th. Was so excited to meet you last year in Calgary (and briefly in Banff) and now looking forward to meeting Jackie @30pics4jackiesdiamond and Sue @wakelys while we're there in the UK.
