I learned of the January Challenge from following Laura @la_photographic and seeing her take part in it the last several years. I joined it last year toward the end of the month, and received the rest of the month’s daily challenge emails, but didn’t actually do much except read them. This year when the emails arrived announcing the upcoming beginning of this year’s round, I signed up again. So far I’ve only done a few of them, but it’s kind of like 365 — your project, your rules. Do one, do them all, do a number of them all at once...whatever you can. Just get your creative juices flowing and enjoy the exploration. This is a pimped up edit of the original —from my awkward attempts to do a portrait with one line. If I try this again , I’ll loosen up and let my line double back and scribble around and go all over without lifting the pencil from paper. Laura’s Day One portrait is more like that.
