Woke up more sore than yesterday but hopefully by tomorrow I'll be back to my normal routine (keep dark glasses on!) - glad I had these from last week. Went by the duck pond and it was still lightly frozen - but not enough to keep the ducks from falling through every little bit. This mallard would have the hardest time trying to get up again on the ice. Was quite comical.
Poor thing. Makes me think of the advice I’ve heard re the smart phone bird calls and how they waste precious energy of birds who are attracted to the sound. It hadn’t occurred to me how close to the edge of survival birds are

Goodness, he really is struggling, isn't he, poor thing! He could probably manage better if the ice was a bit thicker.
