2015-01-31 Pilatus mountain – construction site at 2000 meters above sea level
I was all day either on the road, or in an underground congress room in Basel, having a big meeting. But in the morning before I went to work, the view into the mountains was quite free for some time.
Additional Story: If you have good eyes, you can see the construction site with a tower crane at 2000 meters above sea level. The construction site is for the new aerial cableway to Pilatus Kulm, replacing the old one. The construction works are currently in full swing. Twelve experienced workmen are working on the mountain and have at their disposal all the necessary machinery and equipment. Teamwork is all-important when working at dizzying heights, dealing with snow, extreme cold and strong winds. Completion is scheduled for spring 2015.
And yes, up there is also a train station for the cable railway and a station for an aerial cable car. (Both closed for winter season, site can be reached only by helicopter), a hotel and a restaurant.
Lovely shot of Pilatus Mona but why B&W?
We went up to the top of Pilatus as part of a tour we did a few years after our self drive Switzerland tour. On that day, the train wasn't working so we went up and down on the cable way. Pilatus was good but of course, noting when compared to Jungfraujoch.
@terryliv Thanks for your comment. Why b&w? There was not a lot of light this morning,so the picture was all monochrom "blueish". So I took all saturation out. Of course Pilatus is not the Jungfrau Joch. Still it is a beautiful mountain und it belongs much more to my life, as the Bernese Alps. Today there have been to many clouds (snow is drifting in) to get a reasonable shot of the Jungfrau. After all, this is "just" a capture from my balcony, anyway the view is not to bad.:-)
