In our area there are different cave systems. The Höllgrotte, a not very old (6000 years) but unique dripstone cavern is hardly 15 minutes away from my front door. To improve my difficult relationship with the tripod and to practice long exposure, I submerged in the mystical underground world. In the picture you can see a natural spring and formations which had eventually formed under water (coralloid cave popcorn), but are now above the water level. This picture is not showing the stalactites and stalagmites, which the cavern is famous for. *Thanks* to cutting-edge coloured LED lighting, these are coloured with light and are even nicer for some people. I would prefer to see it like mother nature formed it. For me it’s beautiful enough whithout any fancy lighting. like in this cavern.
Welcome to 365!!! What an extraordinary photo!! I LOVE the lighting and the water splashing and the small water fall. Is the water in there very deep? Can you swim in it? Were you standing in the water with your tripod? Great reflections also. I could never go in the caverns since I'm so claustrophobic!!! Still I find the underground so beautiful!!
FAV! Also thank you for the comment on my photo!!
@cashew Hi Kathy, thanks for your kind comment, on this underground photo. I love caves and caverns. This one is very small cave, and if you are not taking the time, for pictures, you have done the whole tour in 45 minutes. The water is in this place at this time of the year not very deep. But after long days of rain, it can be flooded, and you have no possibility to pass.
In other caverns you can (or have to) dive, but not in this one. And you would not like to swimm, because its about 6°Celsius. I was kneeling just at the edge of the water. I'm all dirty now.
@tristansmum Dear Stephanie, thanks for this whole lot of favs, you gave me. :-) In this cave, I would not say, it is "caving". It's a nice one, but,... you know, kind of a baby cave. No climbing, no crawling, no abseiling... you could nearly do it in the shoes, you go to church.
