I flavour the cooking water for pasta, potatoes and rice, always with my own salt-spice mixtures and have them neatly packaged in stock. Today it was necessary to replenish these stocks and at the same time I had the opportunity for a photo for the f-word challenge "flavour".
I mix: sea salt, himalayan salt, white pepper, green pepper, black pepper, rhus coriaria, chilli, fennel seeds, coriander, green cardamom, nutmeg, maces and laurel. The cinnamon bark I use only for indian style dishes (rice).
This special nutmeg fruit (Myristica fragrans) with the maces visible is actually a decoration piece, I would not use this one in the mixture.
Love the textures and lighting in this still life, fav for me. I'm sure your pasta, potatoes and rice have a unique flavour because of your creativity.
