Today in Switzerland many families set up an Advent wreath on the first Advent Sunday (the fourth before Christmas) to start off the Advent season.
My picture shows my modern way of Advent “wreath” with its four candles, one for each week of Advent and some treasures from nature.
The four weeks leading up to Christmas Eve are a contemplative, but also happy time - at least for those not caught up in the increasingly hectic and commercial aspects of this time of the year.
Here all you ever here about Advent is a calendar for the kids often with Candy inside. We really have gotten away from some of the lovely meanings of the season.
This is so beautifully set up, Mona, and so beautifully photographed, it has to be a fav for me. You have such a sensitivity to beauty and composition, no wonder your captures are so lovely.
