A sudden cold snap in Mai brought a return to winter for Switzerland. With this drop in temperature in many regions, frost has caused great damage to agriculture, with particular destruction of fruit orchards and vineyards. Frost-sensitive fruit like cherry, plum and apricot were in bloom and some had small fruit already showing. Some producers have lost their entire crop for the year, but the cherry trees in my region have some fruits growing but it is visible that there are not many. Let’s hope that not a lot of hail storms occur and destroy the rest of the fruits.
