My city is host of the ESAF Eidgenössisches Schwinger und Älplerfest, that takes place every 3 years in a different part of Switzerland. Its a huge traditional event. These are pictures form the parade.
Top left: The colour guards (flag spinners). It was windy, so the synchronity was lost on the way. Still very impressive.
Top right: One of the players of the brass band from Estavayer as part of the delegation that brought the flag of the Schwinger Association. They hosted the last ESAF, 3 years ago.
Bottom left: Another decorated cov, with the huge bell.
Bottom middle and right: The Zuger Beresina grenadiers band. Historic Background: Nearly 200 years ago, countless young men from the canton of Zug and Central Switzerland followed the call of Emperor Napoleon Bonaparte to Russia. Only a few survived the war and the Russian winter. The memory of the soldiers who defended the bridge over the Beresina until Napoleon was safe has been preserved to this day. The song "Beresina Lied" still gives us an impression of the hardships the men had to endure in the endlessly wide Russian steppe.
Excellent collage and, like Jane @jgpittenger, I love that Brown Swiss cow (that's what we call them here in Canada). Do you call them Brown Swiss there as well?
