Pretty Poisonous by mozette

Pretty Poisonous

In between showers yesterday, I went outside to empty out a container that was overflowing when I spotted these two growing out of a side-planter. I just had to run and get my umbrella and the camera and take this lovely photo of them.

This morning, however, they were closed up and dried. I counted myself very lucky to have gotten the photos I did. I love the way the raindrops cling to the bottom edges of the top one and the little one looks like it's sheltering underneath it!
WOW, very cool!

It's such a pity I had to pull them out this morning with gloves on... I know some of these gorgeous guys can be very lovely to the eye, but also very poisonous and I didn't wish to take my chances with them. Usually, I get other ones growing around my lawn when it rains this much; but not this time.

Thanks for all your wonderful comments guys... when I pulled them out, I did take the precaution of using gloves; even when I had to put them in the bin. Such a pity they didn't last very long.
