I was downstairs this morning to say hi to my little bird. The curtains were opened and she looked out, then I took her out of the cage and let her go for her usual flight - as we do each day... but today, she dropped fast to the floor! When I found her, she was wobbling around in circles. I didn't know what to do, so I did some tests... got her walking on the kitchen table, and she kept tipping her head off to one side and walking to her left...
I called the vet when they opened, and they said it sounds like my dear little bird has suffered a stroke... but we can't really do anything about it except keep an eye on her and keep her cool and protected.
Over the last few hours, she has improved. She hasn't lost her appetite, knows who I am and is beginning to talk and whistle again... so these are good signs.

@greyfeather She's 7 1/2 going on 8 next April 30. I think the best thing I can do is just make her comfortable and see how things go. I was planning on leaving her alone over Christmas Eve, but it looks like I'll have to take her to my brother's house overnight; seeing she isn't able to care for herself all that well.

And I'm getting her to jump from my hand to her perch and to the top of the cage from my shoulder... so I'm retraining her like they do stroke victims to get her back to what she was doing. But this morning, we were back at square one, where she couldn't balance again.
