Day 3 - Shellac & Steel Wool

Yep... day 3... I spent the day walking between the lid of the Glory Box and the box itself using the 0000 steel wool on each item and then vacuuming up the dust, then shellacking, waiting for the coat to dry and then repeating another 2 times! This smooths out the grain and gives the edges a nicer tone and makes sure it doesn't catch on anything delicate. And it makes it easier to polish too.

The first side of the lid took me the whole day... the other side got only one coat of the steel wool and shellac treatment before I went home.

The box is ready for the bees wax polish! Yay! I'm halfway there!

Now.... all Mum and I have to do is go to Spotlight (a huge fabric place here) and buy the padding, tacks and edging for the seat, then she can show me how to measure it up and get it on there without destroying my work. :D

This will be after I leave this for another week to set completely. :D
You are doing a nice job on that Lynda. It will look so sharp when it's all done
