Bearded Dragon by mozette

Bearded Dragon

Yesterday afternoon, while I was working on my next collection of Crafty Pegs for the next markets this month, I spotted something walking by my door.

At first I thought it was a snake - but it was too quick - and as I looked over, I found it was a Bearded Dragon.

Isn't he a gorgeous specimen?

I told my next door neighbours, as he began to climb the wall next to their hot water system, so we could move him without hurting him. However, Ricki didn't really know how to pick up lizards, so I did... and he was cool, once he settled down. Looking around, there was no shelter for him to chill out - and shelter is what he was looking for. So, I took him through their house, outside and to the Aloe Vera patch next to my place and placed him there.

At first, he didn't move, just looked at me. I nudged his tail and he moved into the cool shade of it where he'd be protected from cats, possums and anything else that might try to get him.

Usually, these guys are dark grey, however, when the seasons begin to change, they turn a lovely yellow - like this one - and then, red and then grey. It was so wonderful to handle a lizard like this guy and he was so calm around me.

Afterwards, I was introduced to Ricki's new python... who enjoyed getting around my hands... then found I had long hair and wrapped himself in that too. I didn't mind, but it took a bit getting him out. :P No worries, he was only around 40cm long.
A super capture he is lovely .You have such great wildlife.

@wendyfrost He was such a lovely lizard... and a lot of our lizards are just that, lovely. A lot of people from overseas think it's okay to kill these wonderful creatures, when it's not... moving them is good, observing them is the best way to enjoy them. But if they are dangerous and must be moved, we are encouraged to call the Wildlife Services where they come out and move them to another location which is more suitable - usually a nature reserve.
