Bird on a Wire

I think I only ever saw kingfishers a couple of times when I lived in the UK but they seem to be quite common in NZ.
Great shot. We have kingfishers on The Great Ouse, only a few yards from my home. However they move very fast unless you leave your camera at home.. Still trying to snap one.

Awww, what a gorgeous bird. Never seen on in real life. Looks a tiny bit like a small kookaburra. Great capture too...

Great capture. I had one fly through the ranch sliders and hit the glass. Fortunately I got to it before the cat. Flew away as soon as I released it, so presume it was ok

@tiedmark @alextheseal @ladymagpie @cheekylulu @susiemc @alisonp @theboxmanreturns @yorkshirekiwi @dawnee @alinz @hop2it @bkbinthecity @joemuli @888rachel @dide Thanks very much for all your lovely comments and for putting this on the pp and tp pages. Luckily we see quite a lot of kingfishers around our town, maybe because we live close to a river, a lake and a wetlands.
