Ngaruahoe at Sunrise

This is Mount Ngaruahoe in National Park. People outside New Zealand will know it a Mount Doom from the Lord of the Rings movies.

For the last 2,500 year it's been the most active volcano in NZ. It last erupted in the 1970s (some say 1975 and some say 1977).
