This week we had to make a background. I tried to make my image all about the background by creating a composite in PS.
The background and "shelf" are the same photo that I took of some driftwood on a beach. For the background I rotated the shot to make the grain vertical. For the "shelf" I adjusted the perspective to make it look more horizontal.
I put the flowers in a glass jar so that the background would show through. I duplicated this layer so that I could mask out the jar in one layer and the flowers and stems in the other. I reduced the Fill and Opacity percentages of the jar layer and placed it above the layer with the flower and stems so that the driftwood background would show through.
I adjusted each layer individually with black & white, curves and photofilter layers.
Even though my efforts are not the greatest I've been enjoying learning more about compositing, layers, masking and editing over the last couple of weeks.
