No, I am not taking requests but Heather remarked she had been on HMS Palliser at the opening of the Tay Road Bridge in 1966.
Heather, this is what it is like today, the toll booths have gone as crossing is now free. It was 2/6 back in 1966 !.
The observation platform has been removed as unfortunately some poor souls used it as a jumping off point into the river..
The bridge is 1.4 miles long and connects Dundee to Fife at Newport on Tay on the other side.
Not nearly so interesting as the railway bridge but very practical.
This shot was taken in a similar position to that of the railway bridge , namely on top of The Law, (meaning hill), in Dundee
Thank you Ian, happy memories of being there. A night out ashore to a club in the evening, but could you look for my peek cap that was stolen from me that night, yes I got in trouble when I got back on board. FAV
