lone rider by northy

lone rider

taken last night... processed in lightroom and converted to black and white using nik silver fx using wet rocks preset, red filter and a deep blue toner... i cloned / blacked out a bit of detail that was deep in the back as it was a bit distracting :)

i've posted a colour (gasp!) shot from today in my other album... be warned - it's a bit of a ghastly mess!

on another note... anyone know how to get back the develop tools in lightroom when you've accidentally hidden them? i keep doing this and i only ever find them again by another accident... i've managed to lose the very important lens profile and upright tools and now i'm stuck!!!!

tx :)
I like your leading lines in this and the solitary rider. Great shot.

Nicely done... great framing and contrast

haven't a clue about lightroom! but I like this shot.

@northy the hidden developing tools . if they are on the right you should see an arrow pointing inward. if you cick on it,it ahould lock you tools again
August 11th, 2013
@cheribug nope - that's not it... that just sort of collapses them so they aren't in the way... somehow there is a way to actually take a tool OFF the panel... it happens accidentally when i think i am clicking to get at a tool but by mistake i open a drop-down box which lets me tick off the tools i want to see and i end up accidentally unticking something... but i can never get to that drop down box "on purpose"... it's making me crazy!

@northy okay. if you right click on one of the headers on the side.. it will let you mark what you want to see.. Is this it??
August 11th, 2013
@cheribug i don't know... i am on a macbook pro with a touch pad and have no clue what the equivalent of a right click would be ;p off to google!
August 11th, 2013
@northy control and click
August 11th, 2013
@northy I really should load lightroom on the macbook I have, but I don't have a clue how to use it.. the macbook not the lightroom. LOL...
August 11th, 2013
@cheribug wierdly - control click did NOT work... however, google also suggested tapping with two fingers and THAT did work... mind-bogglingly confusing... one day i WILL figure it out... tx!!!!!
August 11th, 2013
@northy did you get the controls back you needed????
August 11th, 2013
@cheribug well - i'm still learning both... but i have to say, i am LOVING my macbook... and up until when i got it in June, i was a total PC kinda gal! but as someone said to me: "once you go mac, you'll never go back" and i have to say, it's the truth!
August 11th, 2013
@cheribug yep! and thank you kindly for your help - i would never have figured out the whole right-click component if you had't mentioned it
August 11th, 2013

Another example of where you've captured something which is not in itself attractive and turned it into a fab photo. Brilliant capture.

Love the contasts & the lines.
Wet Rocks is one of my fav presets - although I'm noticeably using SFX much less since I got LR5.

Fantastic architecture of the tunnel. Love all the huge columns. Especially like the little rider showing how huge it all is xx
August 11th, 2013
Another brilliant shot! Technically superb in the way you have retained detail in the highlights. Artistically fab... composition and mood! Gotta be another fav! Please do something boringly ordinary so I can feel better about myself! Fav!
